Sign Guerin, waive Darche?

If your the Habs would you take the chance to sign Guerin for a season?

He would add some scoring and some grit to the roster, he could certainly float through all 4 lines where need be.

I would like to see him in Montreal as he could step up to play on the 3rd line with Eller, or possibly step in with Gomez and Gionta if Pouliot should falter.

Thoughts?

I would have preferred Brendan Morrison, but he already signed with the Flames.....

but no.. Darche had a good camp and I'm sure would be a better bargain for what he offers the team.. Habs have enough depth at top 6 for this season IMO

I like guerin and think he can help, but it's no surprise he went for a philly try out after being in same state with pittsburg. I think he stays in the US and in eastern conference or retires.

At least Darche won't mind when he'll end up benched and sent to the AHL, playing yoyo the whole year. I doubt Guerin would put up with that.

Exactly. Darche is the NHLer who will play 10-20 games, most of the time he'll be sitting in the press box (actually, do players still 'sit in the press box'? I know Gomez did last week, but I digress) Having a "whatever, I'm good" guy like Darche allows the Habs to give our young guys some icetime, if we sign Guerin we lose that flexibility. Plus he has gas.

No way. Not the biggest fan of Darche but him playing 4th line/bench is far better than Guerin in the top 9.

I'd assume a guy who gets released on a tryout would probably accept top 9 at his age.

No thanks. Darche has been decent for us, and doesn't whine,***** and groan when he doesn't get ice time.

Guerin is a bad version of AK, Cammy, Gionta, etc. Darche is a good 13th guy.

Even if you waive Darche, White can't play cause he would be our 13th... but man that kid is impressive and is just what this team could use.

Fail.

Guerin would rather sit by the phone than be a 13th forward. He'll probably retire soon.

Darche has nothing to do with White...

Darche had a good pre-season. He's going nowhere.

Agreed, he is not as bad as some people seem to think and he works hard while never complaining.

Why would Guerin sign in Montreal to be the 13th forward?

Guerrin should have retired 3 years ago, it's amazing what playing alongside Crosby can make to your career.

He could steal a third line job. I say why not...

Guerin is done. He was brutal last year, even with time on a line with Sidney Crosby and wasn't good enough to crack the flyers lineup ,so why do we need him? Darche is happy with his role as a guy who stays in the press-box 75% of the season, so I'm happy too.

Darche > Guerin

He was released from a pro contract after zero teams showed any interest in him, and now he's going to be on our third line?

Sometimes I wonder how much some of you guys keep up with the rest of the league. Guerin is garbage.

He was hurt last year. He looked ok to me with the Flys. Maybe not. I'm a man who is willing to take risks tho...!
