Guerin's finished. He can't skate anymore and his hands are gone. Like others, I say let Ryan White take Darche's job away instead.

Darche has obvious scorer qualities but will never be a top line threat due to equally obvious faults. That said, against other 4th lines and when he has limited ice time, he gets results. He reminds me a little of a better Jason Ward. I was a fan of Ward as well. Always liked guys like that.

That plus a good attitude, chemistry with Halpern, the fact he'll take any role and is a good vet is what makes him useful.

I hope he keeps playing at the level he was last season. Maybe he'll open a few eyes, but then again probably not.
We may need maybe one player like this? If we have Halpern, we don't need Darche.

Darche is the perfect 13th forward that won't complain if he doesn't dress and he doesn't hurt the team when in the lineup. He's not going anywhere this year.

Meh

I would gladly take Andre Roy as 13th player instead.

What does Halpern have to do with Darche? Halpern is a PK specialist/shutdown center. Darche is a winger that can come in and chip in a few goals...sort of like a pinch hitter in baseball. They are completely different players.

i'd prefer to see halpern as the 13th forward but the team seems to have a set spot for him.

This is exactly why the Habs re-signed Darche, though he has limited abilities he is somewhat versatile and plays every shift like it's his last. Not to mention his team mentality of "I'll play when you need me " only further solidifies him as a dependable 13th forward.

Guerin is done.

As much as I like to hate Darche for no real reason... I'd much rather him than Guerin.

Guerin was absolutely terrible with Philly in the preseason. He turned over the puck every other time he had it and was a liability for the team. I wouldn't want him on the Habs if he payed the team to play and had a negative cap hit.

Guerin did seem to have a lot of troubles in pre-season, and despite being a veteran, doesn't necessarily have the pristine character references that some other veterans might? I'd pass on Guerin now. I still wonder what's up with Owen Nolan, however.

If we had not added Boyd and Eller, I could see adding Guerin asa fallback option for the PP and possibly subbin into the top 6 if AK and Pouliot were not producing, but Eller makes that a non issue.

Putting Guerin in for Darche makes no sense as Darche is there to be 13th forward because he is a veteran and team player, Guerin at this stage of his career surely wants to play for a team where he gets a shot at top 6 ice time, so he is surely not interested in Darche's job.

I hope Darche gets some time in the top 6 and goes on a tear and ends the year with 22 goals and 5 assists.

Honestly, Darche for Conn Smythe.

He'd be decent but i dont think a veteran like Guerin would enjoy taking on the role of Darche, being benched and only playing occasionally. I have no doubt that Guerins the better choice but it's not like Darche has majortly done anything to jeopardize his spot on the team and you'd have to think of morale as well if u wanna take on a player like Guerin.

Of more interest I find, Ryan Parent has just been waived. Might be worth the pickup considering how thin we are on D.

He would add some scoring and some grit to the roster, he could certainly float through all 4 lines where need be.

I would like to see him in Montreal as he could step up to play on the 3rd line with Eller, or possibly step in with Gomez and Gionta if Pouliot should falter.

Thoughts?
I would sign an orange cone before Guerin.

Darche is more valuable to this team than Guerin could. Darche is faster than this guy even without skates.
