Lokomotiv Valli

It's been mentioned on other boards and confirmed at eurohockey.net.

Steve Valiquette has signed to play in Russia for Lokomtiv Yaroslavl next season.

Im suprised anyone would be that interested. Hes had a good AHL season but if I was a gm he would be far from the top of my list. Good luck to him but he seem quite an unlikely guy to go and play in Russia.

Blackburn....... I have basically forgotten about him . If he donbt get on a catching glove he could forget about an NHL careere. Right now im more concerned with Lund's and =even a very little bit Montoya, very little.

Lets not get carried away here. Dunham has not been great and he has been injured but he's still a much better goaltender than Valliquette.

I don't think we will see Dunham in a Rangers jersey again.

Jason Labarbara

should start getting used to the view from the bench.

Or maybe the view from the nets on another team.

Valiquette has seen the writing on the wall and knew that he'd be pushed out the door.

Labarbara should concentrate on the task at hand, but once the PO's are over it would be wise for him to start looking for a place to play everyday because there's not going to be any room at the inn next season (or whenever the league starts up again).

Unless of course he's Weeks back-up.

The Rangers are going to make room for their self proclaimed top prospect in Lundqvist. Additionally they are more than likely going to want Montoya in arms distance of Benoit Allaire.

I think you'd probably see a lot different goalie in Lababara.

His confidence is sky high and that alone can help make a goalie better.

As for Weeks, I'd take him over Dunham and looking at Dunham's contract I'd likely buy that out and keep it Weeks and Labs.

I don't really see that much of a downgrade.

Wait wait, I thought Dunhams contract has already run out and I also thought we only signed Weeks to a one year contract??

LaBarbera is also a free agent at the end of the season. I think it's impossible to guess at this point who will be signed for next season (with the exception of Lindqvist).

Mark Lamothe left Detroit and went to the Lokomotiv when he realized he wasn't ever going to be given a fair chance. Curtis Murphy also went there this year, perhaps word has come back that this is a good place to play.
FYI the Lokomotiv finished 3rd in the RSL playoffs. Apparently the 2 semi-final losers play a 2 game (total goal?) series for the bronze.

Nothing like the difference between AHL and NHL shooters to wreck a goalie's confidence. Dunham was horrible last year but I refuse to believe JaLabs would step in and be much better, if at all.

Labarbera wouldn't be better than Dunham... Labarbera is probably a backup goalie in the NHL if he makes it, which is fine..he's probably a better goalie this year than last year, technically, and I don't think it'd be bad to give him a shot with the Rangers as the backup if he earns it. Weekes/Labarbera wouldn't be terrible because Weekes is pretty decent and Labarbera could get some gametime...but it'd be a good idea to have a backup plan if Labarbera can't hack it
