Good player...drafted in the 2nd round in 1999 then went back to Europe (SEL, FNL and KHL) when he couldn't crack the Preds roster full time where he continued to develop and decided to give the NHL another shot this year. Not sure how he fits into this trade, whether the Preds wanted to get rid of him or Vancouver wanted him, but he's a skilled forward who's probably a 2nd/3rd line tweener.

He was never assigned to the Moose, was he? He wouldn't need to go on re-entry at this point.

Did Vancouver/Nashville actually assigned him to AHL yet? I thought Vancouver just waived him.

I don't even remember him playing for Sweden in the WC, 6 goals in 9 gms? Maybe he's who we were really making this deal for?

O'Brien does not have to go through re-entry waivers. He was never off the Canucks roster.

If I was Nieuwendyk, I'd be all over Parent.

Has been playing quite well in Finland and Russia the last few years but most of all he had a good WC last season.
Quick player that uses his speed and size to his advantage to create chances and he's a real team player. Ideal 3rd/4th line material (depending on what you want from those lines, he isn't exactly tough).

Capgeek has him off the Canucks roster and listed as a non-roster player.

A great fit for him would be the Rangers, actually. Parent-Staal reunited. Pierre = orgasm.

He was money playing a shutdown role with Team Canada at the WJC, but really he hasn't done much at the NHL level.

Is your league heavy on blocked shots and IR? That's all Parent provides you. He is devoid of offense and is injured often.

Parent sucked uss last year. His confidence was shot. I doubt he is gaining any after this.

Ya, but he did clear waivers. I dunno if Nashville will have to bring him through re-entry though? I'm assuming Parent was waived to go down to Manitoba? Almost seems like the Canucks are trying to get someone to claim him.
Was this Anderson guy at Preds camp?

Rangers are looking for a Lefty Dman and he's still young
I think they will put in a claim

Parent was solid early on in Philly, but the injuries got to him. After awhile his play just deteriorated to downright awful at times. If he can stay healthy he can still be a top 4 d-man though.

The issue was injuries and wasn't up to speed when Laviolette took over. The "money" thing as you put it was a Pierre McGuire creation because he was playing with Kimmo Timonen. Doesn't play to his size, easily moved off the puck and provides no offense. There is not much room in the NHL for those guys.

So... Does O'Brien even crack Nashville's top-6?
