Just wondering if there's room for veteran leadership on this roster. Has a 2-way...

I don't necessarily know if he fits, just trying to get a concensus.....

Smyth, Scuderi, Mitchell, Handzus . . that's a pretty solid leadership / veteran core, I think we're good

point taken. Four Stanley Cups is nothing to sneeze at though. Maybe I'm just trying to talk myself into it when I know there's not a place for him.

No. We need room. He isn't a bad idea but we need to move a player (or two) and don't really need another agitator type imo.

Last year I would have definitely said yes. This year, no.

Actually kinda shocked the Wings didn't do this maybe 2-3 years ago ... he's not the same player or as effective as he once was, I mean he's only been around a 5g/10pt per season player for the last 5 years or so. Kings have players like that, and are the whipping boy dujour of many fans. But then that shows the loyalty the Wings Organization has to players that brought Championship after Championship to the Motor City. Hopefully the Kings reach that level.

As for wanting him with the Kings, Nope, not even last year I don't think, the year before that YES, but as mentioned we have a solid enough group of Vets with leadership qualities and too large a group of young up and coming rookies that will out perform Him that will need roster spots this and coming years. I think Simmonds already, and Clifford/Schenn will very soon if not already, bring all and more than Maltby could to the Kings at this stage in his career.

You should be shot for even thinking this. William H Bonney (naturally) should do the shooting and then turn it on himself for saying he would do it last season.

Maltby is one of the buggest ******* to ever play the game. It's shocking that he even had a roster spot the past few seasons but still not as shocking as the fact that a man could lead a normal life, i.e. shower, eat, boink, and tie his shoes, while never removing his hockey gloves.

Only way you make this team without stones is by popping 50+ points. Maltby can go do spots for Krazy Glue and take his giant visor with him.

So you're saying there's a chance....

No thanks. The veteran leadership guy I wanted this off-season was Modano.

i thought about Matlby on the kings for a few seconds, then realized it was pointless. If he's still pretty good, no way he drops to the kings' spot. but if he does, it means he's declined so much that we wouldnt want him anyways.

That was one of my initial thoughts, but like I said I think I was just trying to talk myself into thinking it was a good idea. It comes from watching too much Red Sox baseball where they reward you now for what you did 5 years ago. I have now been convinced that it is a bad idea and I hope I don't really have to take a bullet for trying...

There's a player currently on the Kings who does the things Maltby excelled at, and you could say he's a better player and has more upside than Maltby at his best. I'm talking about Wayne "The Pain" Simmonds.
