Dave Pratt is absolutely convinced Scahaefer is going to the Moose. This reminds of when Pratt said unequivocally that the Canucks would be trading for Dany Heatley after the Ehrhoff trade.

Bro.. Mike Gillis didn't offer Brendan Morrison a term or a dollar amount.

Bro.. Your post definitely implied that Schaefer only got the job by virtue of taking less money than Morrison. If that's not your point, then can you explain the intent of your comment?

Schaefer as 3rd/4th line winger/PK specialist proved to have FAR more value than a skinny aging center with zero grit who hasnt lasted a full season in about 5 years. Yes I know Mo was the ironman, but I also believe he killed his body by playing thru injuries he should have rested & healed.

Just heard that too oh Pratt

Now we just need him to mention "pinheads" "get a load of this" and something about bike lanes.

I heard there was a new bike lane approved or something? Shouldn't be too long

Not as upset about not signing Morrison if this is true. While the depth at centre would have been nice, once Burrows is back the Canucks should have one quality forward on the fourth line.

Just wait until Roberto Luongo starts doing pro bike lane ads.

Agreed. Something tells me that BMo also would have taken the $150,000 less to match the amount Schaefer is likely to be given if offered a contract. This isn't about Cents its about what makes Sense for the team. AV said after the release that it was not they were not impressed by BMo's play or flexibility, and that he also would not hesitate to recommend him to another team. The kind of play that he brings does not fit the role that they want filled.

MG wants size and grit for the bottom six forwards in a role where they are hell to play against, kind of like what the Blackhawks had last year. He pretty much said as much in an interview shortly after we got knocked out and followed his words with actions by all the moves he made this summer clearing out guys like Wellfed (thank god). I don't understand why everyone is in a state of shock over this its in line with the strategy the organization has been pursuing the whole off-season.

He was also one of the best playoff performers the Sens have ever had. He would hit everything in sight. Ask Tim Connolly if he's a tough guy to play against. Schaefer's open ice hit on him in the 06 playoffs was one of the hardest hits I have ever seen and Connolly has never really recovered. I'm jealous of you guys, but of course wish Schaefer all the best!

You got lots right here. Gillis never made any secret of what he intended to do this off season..and he went ahead and did that.

But I think that "everyone is in a state of shock" is where i would disagree. I think many of us were not shocked by these last cuts and upon reflection a number of people recognized that Morrison, for example did not fit that mode of grit and size..

And if Hodgson plays well enough at the AHL level then perhaps he gets the call up and the Canucks then would have a fourth line of Schaefer-Bolduc-Hansen.

Don't forget the time he assured us we could expect to see David Backes in a Canucks uniform "by the end of [the given] week" around the dealine.

I honestly didn't think Schaefer had a chance coming in, and I didn't pay a lot of attention to him from the games I did see, but I think I like the edge. Good for him.

I'm still waiting for that second team in Toronto that he told me was locked in.

I think Schaefer's game is actually really well-rounded.

This is the kind of guy you don't mind playing in the bottom 6/your 4th line even if he isn't huge or physical. Decent speed, strong on his skates, great in corners, great defensively, more than competent puck skills.

I don't expect him to light the world on fire, but great little pickup, IMO. Could be key in the playoffs.

The best part of this for Pratt if he's correct he can trumpet himself as a genius, and if he's wrong he can pretend it never happened.

I text team 1040 to complain about Pratt on a regular basis. I suggest you all do the same.

If we flood them, who knows what could happen? This is much more productive than sending Rory Fitzpatrick to the All Star Game.

Please tell me that this is happening using text-to-landline. I love the idea of someone picking up the phone there and hearing the robot telling them how much Pratt sucks.

The team1040 listens to ratings not feedback.

Me too, because at worst, they sometimes read them on-air, and it gets Pratt completely fired up using his favorite comeback "pinhead" multiple times per minute.

And LOL at the Tiger Wood's comment, so true... it's painfully too true.

Pratt just wishes he could have Tiger's life for one moment, I think he lives vicariously through him.

Tomorrow on Pratt & Taylor:

"Get a load of this, some pinhead wrote I'm the only one in the media who still talks about Tiger Woods" - Pratt crumples up the paper and leaves the studio in anger (after Taylor disagrees with him).
