To be honest, half of Samuelsson sounds awful. In fact, full Samuelsson isn't even that great. He's a borderline 2nd line player.

Now, St. Louis on the other hand...

Andres Lilja??

wont be a bad option as a 5th or 6th dman. at least he can play physical something Gilroy and Eminger dont do that much of although Eminger is more physical than Gilroy which isnt saying much

unless there is a no-brainer on the waivers, I'd imagine we'd see a trade before a claim. Especially since Eminger is Sullivan's boy, he isn't getting replaced by some waiver pickup IMO. The current players available represent marginal improvements when considering other implications (extra roster spot, -1 roster spot in HFD, extract contract out of 50 max, etc)

the Rangers should sign Lilja for a year. he would be a good cheap option that can help. he has leadership and some grit on d. we can use that, plus he is from sweden so Hank can tell him all the great things about NYC get it done.

He's coming off a 55-game missing concussion injury and the sharks didn't want to sign them despite them having a horrible defense-core already, Why would we want to sign him?

Plus, he's 35 so we couldn't just simply dump him if it didn't pan out.

Hi, Love this. Ay chance you can use my Avatar of Kreider? If you can fit "Krispy Kreiders" somewhere that would be XLent.

DrurysWeekend, that's pretty good. If I wasn't so busy with exams this week I would join in the Photoshop fun.

I could do a cereal themed one instead with a Krispy Kreiders theme, if you want.

That's unfortunate, but good luck on your exams! Save some time for the opener.

If it's a one year contract, the Rangers could dump Lilja in the minors and his cap hit would not count against the cap. I'm pretty sure the first year of a 35+ contract, regardless if its a one year or a multi-year deal, would not count against the cap if they are waived and sent to the minors. Kinda like what happened with Brashear last season. It's the subsequent seasons that count.

Not a 100% though.

We've already mentioned waiver posssibility and lefty D Ryan Parent, with Staal, Girardi connections....

Nothing solid, but hearing that former Dev D David Hale (now in Ottawa) might be a waiver pickup, despite GM Glen Sather's saying nobody today intrigued him. Gotta be honest, Hale doesn't do much for me unless someone's moving out in a deal. Not sure picking will be that great on waivers today, so....

On trade front, don't discount Florida, which is on a very tight budget. Bryan Allen, 30, he's 6-4, 220, a lefty D, 99 PIM last year, perhaps a little pricey at $2.9 mil though.

German-born D Christian Ehrhoff of the Canucks ($3.1 mil, then UFA) may also be available, but Sami Salo is sidelined...

Van is not moving Erhoff who is the only desirable name on that list.

Allen makes $3 million plus per in real money.

Parent played with Staal at the WJC.

I thought about Allen . one year left but money has to go back. Gilroy at 1.7 for Allen and a pick?

i doubt they would take White for Allen but maybe

If the Rangers claim Hale, I will vomit. He couldn't hack being on Tampa's blueline last season. Not to mention last season was an injury plagued one for him. In fact, I don't think he has ever played a full season.

Parent was traded to Nashville yesterday. Unless Nasville's prize was Anderson, I think Parent is probably off the table now.

Parent was traded from Nashville to Vancouver and then Vancouver waived him.

I remember watching one Flyers game in particular and I really liked Parent's game. Smart, good positioning and quick to get the puck and get it moving up ice. I don't know if this game happens to be the exception because guys who consistently play like that don't end up on the waiver wire. Anyway, I'd still take a chance on him if he doesn't get claimed by someone else first.

Parent is only 23 and has some NHL experience.. can't be any worse than Gilroy.

He can be good, but most often isn't. He makes a lot of mistakes and is very inconsistent in his play. Pretty much a perfect Ranger, but not exactly what we should be looking for at this point. I'd rather have either Val or McD in if we were gonna go the youthful risk route.

Well, there is a reason why he's been dealt three times in three years and subsequently waived right after the last trade.
