Any surgery can have unexpected problems. I do find it laughable that you can name a surgery successful before a player has full use of what was surgically repaired.

"The surgery went as was to be expected, and there were no complications." I believe that would be a more reasonable approach to reporting surgery of this nature. (Whether it's the doctor, team, or a reporter making the statement.)

"Success" is the new "nothing went wrong."

Changed the heading to surgery completed.

WOW, never thought putting success would garner so much complaining.

Sorry Sal, I hope you didn't think my post above was an indictment! "Successful" was how it was re-reported on Botta's site.
I surely wasn't shooting the messenger. (I may not even be shooting Botta, this bullet might actually go all the way to Switzerland. That's what they get for sitting on the fence for so long. )

That said, I do appreciate your correction.

It wasn't a problem for me. I was merely pointing out that it's comical to call a surgery successful when the player is many months from testing that assumption. (And again, I'm assuming that these words were re-reported by Botta and I'm not attributing them to you.)

And....yes, for the love of all that is holy, let hockey begin.

Have you or a close family member/friend ever had surgery? If so, I'm sure you didn't take it for granted that it would be a success. Every surgery has huge risks and when it goes well, you breath a huge sigh of relief.

As far as Streit's return goes, of course it matters if he plays this year. Not only for the Isles playoff hopes (which in my opinion are non-existent even with Streit) but missing an entire season would severely hamper his recovery. Last thing pro athletes want is to sit out an entire year.
