Not surprised about Kennedy. Mentioned it yesterday. Wasn't much of a market for him when was a free agent just last month. Every team has their version of Kennedy.

You don't have to be a "great" NHL player to be a huge asset to your team. You take the good with the bad when it comes to Sammy/Christensen level players and just accept that they only 2 or 3 things really well, then try and put them in a position to utilize those skills to the team's benefit.
Yeah, I get it. I'm just not all that personally impressed with Sam, he's a great goal scorer, but looking at his stats, he doesn't get many assists. Makes him a 40pt player who got 53 last year playing with one of the best passers in the league. I'm just not all that impressed with him. To boot, he was even in +/- on a Red Wings team that almost won the Stanley Cup for the 2nd year in a row in 2008-2009.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not discrediting him, he's a good NHL player who would be useful on a 2nd line that had a good center on it, but I find him overrated. Would I take him on the Rangers if the price was cheap? Of course.

Samuelsson played with Kesler last season. Burrows played with the twins.

Right, Burrows did play with them. I could have sworn I've seen Samuelsson get at least some time with them, though.

I am sure he got a few games with them but I know Burrows was a staple on that line last season. They had an uncanny chemistry between the twins and burrows.

He is only 23 and has some potential.
I would have prefered Parent to Lashoff if the Rangers are going to claim someone off waivers. Another player that has been on three teams in three years I believe and has never played a full season.

Gonna have to go with no on this one, too.

everyone crying over Kennedy getting claimed and what happens...nothing.

I was wishing he did...just another pro contract taken by someone who doesn't deserve it.

LOL @ the idea that Kennedy would be claimed. As if every team in the league doesn't have two or three Kennedys on their AHL roster already.

Was just going to mention this. Ehrhoff was Van's best defenseman last year and he has a reasonable $3.1 million cap hit. Why in the world would Zipay think he is available?

I'm not sure if he's misinformed or whatnot, but Zipay has been off the mark lately with some of his suggestions. His desire to pick up at SOB off waivers was a headscratcher. Not only is O'Brien undisciplined and overpaid, but he is a notorious party animal that has shown up late to practice because he was out at the clubs the night before. The last thing the Rangers need is that sort of distraction... Zipay should know better.

He played with them in the playoffs because Burrows flat out went MIA

Looking at last season's stats, Kennedy would be #10 tied w/ EC in points...he'd be #8 in goals.

/just sayin'

On a team that needed to pick up EC off of waivers because that's how little offensive depth it has. So, doesn't that say more about the Rangers than it does Kennedy?

I hate to say it but Souray will be a Ranger soon. This has Glen Sather written all over it. Analysts doing season preview continue to question our defense and depth down the middle. He will trade for Souray today most likely, hopefully we send decent amount of cap the other way...

Only way i'd be happy if the Rangers acquired Souray is if Redden went the other way, though i'm pretty sure he'd have to go through re-entry waivers first before he is dealt. So I don't see that happening.

No other deal really works out with the Oilers. The only other salary that is a "bad contract" is Drury's, but he has a NMC.

Sather will not be moving Roszival in a deal for Souray. He was arguable the teams second best D-man last season.

Actually, I'm not surprised because of the caliber player he is (though, @ 26 points in 78 games, he was about as productive as Anisimov was last year) but more for the fact that he makes $550,000 which is less than some AHL players.

If we get Hemsky I'd **** my pants. He's my favorite player outside of N Y.

Shocking

A lot of fans think their waived players are highly coveted by everyone other team. Happens all the time, on all forums, for all teams, in all sports.

Needless to say, I'm not surprised that they weren't claimed.

Anisimov's numbers will improve, perhaps significantly. Kennedy's won't.

I wouldn't mind Souray but I'd rather see what a healthy Vtank could do. Souray is known as a poor defender with a big shot. We've seen Vtank's shot and he played physical in his own zone. He's young, so he's going to need some positional work. Let the nose heal and see how he does before we go out for Souray, I don't think anyone is rushing out to get his 5.4 million cap hit for 2 years.

It's looking real likely that Souray is going to be a Ranger. Gross says he's going to be going on recall waivers soon.
