Said something about the 2000's being weak, than noticed Hank and Doobs.

Guess the list as a whole is just really suspect. Let's hope Step beats the odds like Staal and Hank.

Got like a 50-50 shot at him being a player then, I guess.

What does Stepan have to do with any of those past failures? He is going to be fine. The thing that sets him apart from everyone else is his hockey IQ.

Awards:
I actually think that if you had said Stepan would have won Lars-Erik Sjoberg Award in July, people would have been surprised. He really wasn't penciled in to most peoples' lineups — at least not like MZA, McD and Grachev were.

Hey Pierre, is Glenn Sather finally ready to build around the youth movement, have to love Stepan so far, or will he over spend for Brad Richards by the deadline?
Pierre LeBrun (4:31 PM)

Pierre LeBrun
Haven't seen Stepan play yet for New York but I've heard great things, including from an opposing GM the other day

I don't. Like half of those names are real solid NHL players. If our best rookie in camp has a 1 in 2 shot of being a good NHLer, i'm happy with it.

Steven Rice was part of trade that brought Messier to NY
Eric Cairns was a serviceable Dman; finished with Islanders I think;
Kim Johnsson part of Eric Lindros trade; very good Dman IMO;
Lundmark=bust, cost us Marc Savard in process
Blackburn unfortunate injury
Filip Novak got us Pavel Bure from Fla

Don't forget:
Lauri Korpikosi was part of the trade that brought Enver Lisin here.
Nigel Dawes was part of the trade that brought Derek Morris here for 25 games.

Honestly I only included him because he was still so young when he had to retire, I believe it was from back problems after an injury.

Stepans dad brad was a teammate of Troy Malettes in 1988. They both played for the Soo Greyhounds in the OHL.

Interesting, I didn't realize Stepans dad was a player, did he ever play in the NHL?
