What are people's thought about screwing the 1st line over with Carcillo (assumingly next to Richards and Carter), and having an insane 3rd line with Giroux between JvR and Z? From what I see above, seems like a popular decision, and I'm all in for it.
Now with Leighton on the LTIR, Nodl can be brought up since the roster will be at 23 men. I read (on this site?) that he will take warmups in Pittsburgh, but are the chances pretty high that the Flyers roll both Carcillo and Shelley instead of Nodl?
Since we all know the Flyers never deserve any of the penalties they get called for, especially in Pittsburgh (), wouldn't it make a bit more sense having Nodl in the lineup for 3rd unit PK opportunities. If Richards/Betts/Powe/Giroux get a penalty, Nodl should be high on the list to fill in for a quick 30-45 seconds.
Speaking of which, any info on the Special Teams lineup chart?
I guess if Carcillo gets too emotionally into the game, which I hope he does not to the point of getting lazy/stupid penalties, there will be a short leash with Nodl in the pressbox. I like Carcillo on the edge, he can be a valuable asset to that line if he can somehow pull it together, but he can also drag the entire team down with him.
is what I'd like to see, although you could also possibly switch JVR with Carcillo/Nodl. As much as the Hartnell-Briere-Leino line did in the playoffs, Briere scares me defensively down the middle less than Giroux does.
JVR looked good with Richards, Hartnell looked good with Giroux and Zherdev in the preseason, and Leino looked pretty awesome with Carter in the preseason. Even though it was for a short period because the lines got changed a bunch.
