Guessing, which honestly it all is guess and speculation at this point because it hasn't been announced and certainly has not been made clear, I'd assume something like this

JvR-Giroux-Zherdev
Hartnell-Briere-Leino
Carcillo-Richards-Carter
Shelley-Betts-Powe
Nodl

Coburn-Timonen
Meszjaros-Carle
Walker-O'Donnell
Bartulis

Boucher
Bobrovski

i think nodl will see more playing time than carcillo against offensively-gifted teams such as the pens and caps.

perhaps

JvR-Giroux-Zherdev
Hartnell-Briere-Leino
Carcillo-Richards-Carter
Shelley-Betts-Powe
Nodl

and

Nodl-Giroux-Zherdev
Hartnell-Briere-Leino
JVR-Richards-Carter
Shelley-Betts-Powe
Carcillo

The order that the top 3 lines are listed was not meant to imply anything. Permute them as you please.

edit: if good teams start to run over those lines, expect to see richards, carter, and giroux down the middle. possibly just switch carter and briere in the 2nd line up.

Or:

Carle-Coburn
Timonen-Meszaros
O'Donnell-Walker

Made one small change, Pronger is playing, but otherwise this looks to be the starting lineup.

He is playing, pretty much a lock at this point.

The more I hear about Carcillo the more I think that Lavi plans to split time between him and Shelley this year and keep Nodl (more likely) or Powe (less likely) in the top 9.

It seems like everyone is pretty down on him in the orginization at the moment.

Any word on whether Briere is playing on opening night? I heard he had some kind tonsil infection and lost a bunch of weight, missed some preseason games - haven't heard anything since.

He's been practicing this week, signs are that he is a go.

What are people's thought about screwing the 1st line over with Carcillo (assumingly next to Richards and Carter), and having an insane 3rd line with Giroux between JvR and Z? From what I see above, seems like a popular decision, and I'm all in for it.

Nodl was sent back down. So it would more than likely be the first few line looks.

Now with Leighton on the LTIR, Nodl can be brought up since the roster will be at 23 men. I read (on this site?) that he will take warmups in Pittsburgh, but are the chances pretty high that the Flyers roll both Carcillo and Shelley instead of Nodl?

Nodl/Carcillo-Richards-Carter
JVR-Giroux-Zherdev
Hartnell-Briere-Leino
Shelley-Betts-Powe

Since we all know the Flyers never deserve any of the penalties they get called for, especially in Pittsburgh (), wouldn't it make a bit more sense having Nodl in the lineup for 3rd unit PK opportunities. If Richards/Betts/Powe/Giroux get a penalty, Nodl should be high on the list to fill in for a quick 30-45 seconds.

Speaking of which, any info on the Special Teams lineup chart?

I guess if Carcillo gets too emotionally into the game, which I hope he does not to the point of getting lazy/stupid penalties, there will be a short leash with Nodl in the pressbox. I like Carcillo on the edge, he can be a valuable asset to that line if he can somehow pull it together, but he can also drag the entire team down with him.

JVR-Richards-Briere
Hartnell-Carter-Leino
Carcillo/Nodl-Giroux-Zherdev
Shelley-Betts-Powe

is what I'd like to see, although you could also possibly switch JVR with Carcillo/Nodl. As much as the Hartnell-Briere-Leino line did in the playoffs, Briere scares me defensively down the middle less than Giroux does.

We need Carter's size down the middle

JVR - Richards - Carcillo
Leino - Carter - Briere
Hartnell - Giroux - Zherdev
Shelley - Betts - Powe

Pronger/Carle
Timonen/Coburn
Meszaros/O'donnell

JVR looked good with Richards, Hartnell looked good with Giroux and Zherdev in the preseason, and Leino looked pretty awesome with Carter in the preseason. Even though it was for a short period because the lines got changed a bunch.

I do think he is. I don't think he will open against the Pens, but he might against the Blues.

Doesn't matter, he's the Flyers most NHL ready goalie aside of Backlund whom they've pretty much given up on as they waived him and assigned him to ADK... so who else is going to backup boosh?
