Ryan Parent waived

My apologies to GKJ for stealing this from him, but:

RT @TSNBobMcKenzie: I believe VAN has traded O'Brien to NAS for Ryan Parent. Vancouver has Ryan Parent on waivers today.

RT @TSNBobMcKenzie: VAN-NAS trade is O'Brian and Dan Gendur for Parent and another player not off the NHL roster.

RT @Real_ESPNLeBrun: I'm sure this is out there but just in case, Canucks trade Shane O'Brien and Gendur to Nash for Ryan Parent and Jonas Andersson

That is harsh, poor Ryan. He was good in '08, just got injured too much and lost all his confidence this past year.

The game will eat you alive if you don't learn to cope and excel in all situations.

Feel bad for Ryan. Has a rep as a bad player, but injuries have torn him apart for a while now. Now he's getting shipped off left and right too?

I like him when he was with us. Sucks that he hasn't been able to get back to form.

Shame, Parent could have been a good defenseman if it weren't for injuries derailing his progression.

All that promise and then that bulge got worse and he had to get that surgery and then he came back and was in Laviolette's dog house b/c he couldn't regain his form. Now he's getting jerked around like a recycled gift. From the penthouse to the outhouse in indeed. Hopefully, he can land a job and hopefully Leighton's bulge doesn't cause him to become Michael "Suitcase" Leighton again as well....

Can we make a montage of all the people overreacting to the Hamhuis deal?

I don't even recall what I said. I don't think I was surprised.

I think I remember someone saying he reminded them of a young Adam Foote.

Getting a 3rd round pick looks pretty OK considering we can get him back for nothing right now if we really wanted to. I'll take free stuff.

Didn't we get a 3rd (from Pit) and a 7th (Nash) because we never signed Hamhuis?

I'd claim him. Reminds of NHL10. All the time I trade guys then they get immediately waived and I claim them right back.

In EHM 2005 I had Donald Brashear for the Flyers and at the trade deadline I kept trading him to the Ducks for all kinds of draft picks. I had their whole draft for like 4 years aside from their 1st round picks because they kept waiving him.

Its a shame. Hopefully his back problems can be corrected but that is one tough call. Another good move by Homer.
