Tim P. said that Pronger was an early arrival at the new arena. Pre-game skate is approaching.

True story: my dad coaches a team and one of his players is from Pittsburgh. A coach that kid used to play for works for the Penguins. Anyway, that coach got in contact with my dad b/c the CEC people wanted to go through a dry-run for an NHL game, so they invited my dad’s team to play the first game at the arena. They had camera crews, tv time outs, all of that. Best part is…they referred to my dad’s team as the Flyers – on the scoreboard, announcing, all of that. The ‘Flyers’ were down 2-1 at the end of the third, tied it up with under a minute left, then won it in a shootout. My dad was so happy. He’s now undefeated in the NHL, and he said he hoped he put the whammy on the new place. Let’s hope he’s right.

Yep. A proud moment for me haha.

I took my mom to that game and when they played it I was like:

"Mom! They are playing this song because of me!"

and she goes:

"What the hell are you talking about?"

Wow, didn't expect that.

Okay Bob -- a little bit of trial by fire for the kid.

Not gonna lie, I am a tad bit uneasy about Bobrovsky getting the go. As for Pronger it would be sweet if he just came out to play after we have told everyone he isn't. Penguin won't know what to do in that case.

It's possible.

Or maybe Bobrovsky has continued to impress more than Boucher in practices since the last preseason game?

Maybe some of the leadership group said they wanted him in net?

Who knows, it definitely seems to have been a decision made behind closed doors at the last minute. So either Boucher got bugged by a minor tweak and doesn't want to go, or something happened with the on-ice personnel that made Bob seem like a better option all around.

Any idea on what to expect from this kid? I've never heard of him, but apparently he's not a bad prospect. Is he expected to be a regular starter for the rest of the year, or is this just completely out of the blue?

I believe most rookie starts are last minute. The poor guy wouldn't have gotten sleep if they told him he was starting yesterday. Not that it matters, guy can't speak a whole lot of English.

I wouldn't feel so bad about Bob starting if Pronger were in the lineup. With him out, I agree, I'm a little uneasy with a thus-unproven goalie going against one of the offensive powerhouses of the league.

He's a quick east to west goalie. Likes to cover the rebounds, unlike Leighton. He's a big goalie too. This is out of the blue for all of us, we assumed Boucher was getting the go for tonight. Probably one of the best goalie prospect the Flyers have had for a while.

He rocked it for us in preseason and turned a lot of heads; his stats were sick. It's only preseason, but still, he impressed a lot of people.

And now with Leighton out, I'm not exactly sure what caused Lavi to name him the starter for tonight, but it's not exactly out of the blue and he very could well run with it for the whole year for us.

Did i miss anything? No way does the nhl allow the pens to lose on nationial tv opening up their new arena that i helped pay for.

For once someone just grab cindy or ogre and pund their face in please!

Lol already making excuses.
