Boucher got torched by Pitts last year. They know how to beat him

GAA 4.14
SV% .861%

Boucher will likely start St. Louis I would say.

Good point.

The hero in white.
Unnamed villain in black.

At the end of the game, the hero rides off into the sunset with his horse. Or as his horse?

Using stats from last year aren't a very good way to do it considering how badly our regular season went for a very large part of the season.

Anyways, this should be a great game and your opening night lineup scares the hell out of me.
Yeah, but most teams go through bad management at some point or another. Look at current teams. Teams like the Panthers and Thrashers have suffered through ****** management throughout practically their entire existence, the Coyotes were being discussed to move, and even some good teams (like us or NYR for instance) suffer from bad management.

Not every team gets rewarded with a starting goalie and two generational talents that can carry a team on their own as compensation for suffering through bad management though. In fact, I can't think of any other team that has ever had that fortune.

Anyways, as for the game, Pronger out is definitely bad. Since Staal and Pronger are out it will be interesting whether our much deeper scoring can now take advantage of a Staal-less lineup and/or whether or not the Pens superstars can take advantage of a rookie goalie behind a defense missing their best d-man.

Even if we lose, at least we'll get a chance to check out Bob though.

Is anyone really sure that Pronger isn't playing?

He's listed as part of the lineup on NHL.com whilst Lappy and Leights are specifically listed as injured.

As is Asham for the Pens ( listed as injured ).

Pretty good read from another guy on another board on why they think Bob is playing over Boosh.

Quote:
Objectively speaking, I think the Flyers did this because:

* The Penguins like to pass the puck; and,
* Bobrovsky is extremely quick.

They are betting on Bobs to cover for the Pronger-less defense, who will likely give up more opportunities than a fully Pronger’d defense. I can’t help but wonder that if Pronger were playing, then they might play Boosh because the D would ostensibly give up fewer opportunities.

Boosh is fundamentally very sound and had a very good preseason, but his lateral movement just ain’t what she used to be. And since the Pens are highly skilled and pass the puck around often before shooting, the Flyers figure that Bobs will do a better job of stopping pucks that are passed from one side of the net to the other.

Bobs had a good preseason, and Lavy remembers last year’s playoffs well. He remembers that Halak allowed the Habs to beat the Pens because he was so quick in the net. Only a hot reflex goalie was going to beat the Pens and Caps last year, and so one did.

As much as I hate him, I loved him for that moment CG, as I'm sure you did as well
Figures though, he did squat all of those olympics, yet still manages to score the biggest goal of the tournament and gets all the credit for the gold medal.

Does Homer have a son that we can draft with that pick?

It'll probably get traded away seeing that we have no other draft picks to give.

Pretty smart post actually.

I doubt that was the line of thinking, but our new coach is a hell of a lot smarter then John Stevens was so who knows?

Good point about needing a reflex goalie to beat the Caps and Pens though. Never really thought about that.

FYI: Asham is sitting this one out with a shoulder injury and is listed as day-to-day.

Might have been mentioned earlier in the thread, but I didn't bother reading the whole thing.

If you cant suit up Walker against a dirty cheap shotting team like the pens, whats the point of having him at all? Find it funny that they spent out the wazu to improve the 3rd pairign yet Bartulis will be in the opening lineup, that is priceless.

Maybe cause other then hitting people Walker cant play? Just cause Homer likes him doesnt mean Lavy has to play him.

Good. I still like Asham and absolutely hate watching recent Flyers play for other teams against us. Recchi and Leclair as Pens made me sick to my stomach.
