Canucks Live Chat about to kickoff

Per Jonny Mac (Province Sports Editor):
Hockey loovers (I like how that sounds), we are on in 15 minutes. You've got your Tony "the G-Man" Gallagher, your Jason "Batchord" Botchford (remember that misspelling?), your Jim "J. Jonah" Jamieson, your Ben "the Kooz" Kuzma, your Gord "Gordie Mac" McIntyre and our special guest, capgeek.com founder Matt "Don't call me geek" Wuest.

Pretty sure everyone knows Botchford's nickname is "Botch".

What's the deal with the sportwriter obsession, anyhow?

Parent is still with the Nux and will be on the opening night roster, if not the lineup, as an 8th D.
by Jim Jamieson at 2:34 PM

Found that interesting.

It's creepy ain't it. He's either on the Province payroll, or....well let's not go there.

interesting indeed. Nashville fans did say he had a pretty decent camp. Maybe they want to get a look at him before sending him down. How long can we keep him up before he needs to go through waivers again in order to be assigned to Manitoba?

If we get a serviceable defenseman out of trading SOB, I'll build a small shrine.

I think its 10 games or 30 days, or something.

If a player cleared waivers and is subsequently recalled during the same season, he does not have to clear waivers again unless he has either played 10 or more NHL games or has spent 30 or more days on an NHL roster since last clearing. Otherwise, he will have to re-clear waivers to be assigned.

So basically the Canucks get another look at Parent for up to 30 days because it's unlikely that Parent plays 10 games before those 30 days are up.

Either way Parent as our number 8 is pretty solid.

May as well get him around the team and learn as much as he can about the systems from the coaching staff. Make him feel part of the organization before sending him down.
