Man, what a tough job. And you have to show nothing but respect for a player who is willing to sacrifice himself for the good of his team. Raitis even tried to get up on his own will. Even though he isn't very well liked around these parts, you can't wish any ill will towards a player who is trying to make a living. Hope he makes a speedy recovery.
Looks like Ivanans grabbed way too high on the sweater giving MacIntyre full punching range of motion. Doesn't matter how much weight you lift or how much you scowl to look mean-you eat a straight right hand like that and you're going tee tee night night. Ratis is going to have to fight a lot more and his overall play will be under a microscope now that he is in Calgary and that will probably shorten his career. You can hide in LA, you can't in Calgary.
First off, like Ziggy said, you gotta respect Raitis, he did this for 4 seasons for us....maybe not as consistent as we wanted but he fought the Booggard's, Shelley's of the world for the LA Kings.
If you watch the fight again, two shots of Mac cut Raitis and he was all but done after that which is why he let his guard down. He should've bailed out after those two, because he put himself in a even more vulnerable spot later.
He could be out for awhile, that might be an orbital bone.
Also, Mac is a dangerous fighter, but he was felled by Godard the same way 2 years ago...It can happen to any fighter any time.
He stopped punching and grabbed with his right hand high while he maintained his left grip. He was either trying to switch hands or some of the earlier punches he took had him confused. That happens in a fight. After taking a couple of punches, you get dazed and are not as alert. One mistake. Boom.
Ivanans just throws little jabs and messes around...he rarely has that instinct to win a fight. It is like Ivanans just dances around...that doesn't work and eventually you get your ass kicked like he did tonight. Glad we moved on...
chris rock-"hey ivanananananas you just got knocked tha ****oot!
****! came to post that. Ivanans is an awful fighter. I don't really wanna see anyone get hurt (unless its Dany Heatley) and it sucked to see him stay down for a while after that. Hopefully he's okay but words cannot express how glad I am he's off our team.
