I'm missing the Fisher and Spezza discussions.

I couldn't agree more with Clouston, very smart comment. He IS supposed to the #1, that's why we traded for him and that's why management had such high hopes for him. Clouston is giving him the confidence boost and the opportunity to get it together.

Anybody who thinks Elliott should be starting tonight is still thinking too much about last season. It's a new start. If Leclaire stinks it up tonight than it's back to Elliott. Pretty damn simple.
I like CC's comments most of the time. He either tells you what he really thinks or says nothing.

To keep things in perspective, a blind brain dead Chimp would have outplayed both Leclaire and Elliott in the pre-season.

Is it just me or are you using a bit more punctuation and structure in your posts? Can I expect a fully formed phrase anytime soon? Here's hoping!

And Im really not trying to defend Lecalaire here, but if all were going by is a bit of success over the course of 1 year, Lecalaire has done alot more in the past than Elliot did last year. We need consistency, something neither of these two have shown at any point in their careers.
Elliot had 29 wins apposed to 12 wins, he also had a winning record, Leclaire did not.
His GAA was about 2.5-2.6 where Leclaire's was over 3.
His save percentage was above .900 and Leclaires was under.
He had 5 shut outs, Leclaire had none.
He also was a big part with our 11 game winning streak where he had a 1.00 GAA.

I'm pretty sure starting Leclaire over Elliot is a kick in the ass for Elliot.

And overall in their careers, Leclaire has nearly double the games played with 159 to Elliot's 87 and Leclaire has only 11 more wins.

So again try and tell me that Elliot has not earned the starting position over the last 2 years.

Leclaire played one good playoff game and everyone thinks he is redeemed and should be the starter. Elliot will become the starter again and if he blows it, Lehner comes up. Leclaire will **** up again.

He doesn't outright say it, but I highly doubt he's playing with the way he was talking about it.

He was an average starting goalie. You're giving him too much credit.

You should probably say there's a free NHL gamecenter preview for Canadians outside the Ottawa region.

Could we hook the chimp up to my Xbox controller? Because I'm pretty good in net for NHL 2010?

His play in pre-season is actually being respected by our management much more than you'd expect...which speaks to how legitimate they thought his performances were. The fact that we're considering he could potentially be up here sometime this year is outstanding and frightening at the same time. Ideally his timeline is one year in the AHL and he will be given a chance to compete more equally next season if Elliott and Leclaire don't give him the job earlier.

Young players go into camps knowing what chances they have and what spots they can compete for, cases where someone comes in and surprises (like TJ Brodie of Calgary) are exceptions, Brodie, a Dman, had to score 4 goals in the pre-season to convince Calgary he deserved it.
Hey - desperate times call for desperate measures. I think everyone, including the coaching staff, seems to feel that Leclaire will fall on his sword. The only remaining question is can Elliot carry the load. He got a pass for all those weak goals last year, he won't get the same this year. Too much improvement in Eastern teams.

Clouston also said that the only way he plays is if he comes to him and says he's ready to go, based on how he sounds there....he ain't playing.

Hopefully he rests up and is ready for Monday, we'll need him against the Caps.

Leafs fans at my work are pretty damn smug today. Saying Spezza is hiding from the Ottawa crowd today but will be good to go tomorrow in Toronto.

Unbelievable what 1 win does for their confidence.

Thanks. Yeah it doesn't look good.

Sounds like he has quit on the team before the season even started. Is that what we want out of our future captain? This guy puts the needs of his groin ahead of the team. Ridiculous (kidding)

No doubt, but I'm referring to his season as a whole. Calling him the best or second best player on the team is a travesty in my opinion. If his season is looked at from an impartial point of view, it is average.
