Higher than I would of thought. But not to far out from what I would of put him.
Hes the only pred to make the list.

think toews is a little high, but i imagine it is a pretty tough thing to decide who is best. be easier to say best Forward/Defenseman/Goalie seperately. decent list though

If you want "higher than what I thought", I recommend looking at #14. My eyes just about popped out of my head.

Toronto Sports Network, indeed.

(no, not kessel)

Yeah, I noted the 14th spot as well. Seemed high.

I was hoping maybe Suter would squeak into the top 50. But I think the hockey world would have exploded with two Nashville Predators on the list.

Wow, Suter is better than a lot of those ranked in the top 30....

Thornton's a little low and Toews is a little high, but, meh it's really a popularity contest with TSN and the like.

I just really dont get how everyone has already jumped Doughty ahead of Weber... he's good, but 8th best in the whole NHL??

He's managed to become the reincarnation of Bobby Orr even before Bobby Orr died. There's respect due for that sort of accomplishment.

Doughty is not better than Weber, plain and simple. I do not get all the hype either. He is very good, but at this point Weber is a better player.

I think Datsyuk is a bit high as well.

Getzlaf is to low.

Lundqvist, Pronger and Chara way to high

Suter should definitely be at least top 40.

Weber is easily, easily in the top 5 players in the NHL.

We are talking about the guy who anchors the team Canada defense.

Best player in the NHL= best goalie, probably Ryan Miller. There isn't too much Weber can do to displace him

The only reason he doesn't get more credit is combination of the market & the fact the team hasn't had a breakout.

Putting guys like Keith & Doughty ahead of him is absurd, and beyond a certain point the elite forwards are interchangeable.

And because he plays such a great two way game. His stats only tell half the story.

I don't mind Keith being ranked ahead of Weber. Keith has his Norris and his Cup. He has been in the league for more than just two seasons, and he has shown steady progress in his game since his rookie year.

Drew Doughty is a good player, and I don't doubt he'll have a successful career. He's also only played two seasons, and his stats have only been really impressive in one of those seasons. Even then Weber has had comparable stats in a single season while playing, as far as I'm concerned, a better defensive game.

Before anyone thinks I'm bitter, I honestly couldn't care less about a TSN ranking. Having a Predator on their top 50 is surprising enough, let alone in their top 20. I just think that if people are so confident in Drew Doughty's ability to be a great defenseman, and I'm one of those people, then they should be able to wait until he's proven it over the course of more than just a season or two. I guess patience is only a virtue outside of sports fans.

His stats help his case. You can't get 60 assists a season with Hornqvist as the teams top goal scorer. Weber is as good a goal scorer as any defenseman in this league, and as I said he can't get Mike Green-like assists without elite goal scorers.

Additionally he's better defensively than anyone and I'm hardly alone in thinking so. Hockey Canada agrees, of course, and Pierre McGuire was on our local radio agreeing just a few days ago.

Funny, I noticed that quote from Dreger, too and popped over to see if anyone else had. Glad to see I am not the only one obsessed enough to take note of such things, Dave...

If Suter was Canadian, he'd be in the top 25.

Don't disagree ... maybe he'll get some more respect this year once the pundits re-watch some tapes

He'll get respect when they tune in for a second round playoff series and find out to their amazement that Nashville has a hockey team.

There isn't any Canadian conspiracy going on here. Weber is a game changer. Suter is not. Game changers get ranked higher.

disagree. There's a ton of players in that list that are not game changers.

Nobody said a conspiracy or an agenda, except you. Just that Canadians are going to favor Canadians. If Suter was with a a Canadian team, or was Canadian, he'd be on the list. They pump the most popular with their audience whether they know it or not. It happens in all media. The Tennessean (ok, maybe not them, but just an example) would have him on their top fifty list, without being against northern teams or Canadians.

Come on

Both are game changers in their own way. Weber's way is just flashier. This list is all about hype. Guys like Seabrook and Myers being ahead of Suter is a joke. But for the most part the list is a joke too so I'm not worried bout it.
