People still can't wrap there head around the fact that Clark's contract is also up a year sooner I see.
If the deal went down like I suggested - it would be $ & cap neutral this year, and IMO - Souray is 10x more likely to be a significant contributor than Clark would be. Obviously - the Oilers would have to agree to the deal.
And I don't see how being on the hook for $2.25M of actual salary for Souray on re-entry waivers next year is a bad thing. It's not like he's locked up for Campbell $'s or term.
Like someone else alluded to - the Oilers might not be interested in taking Clark's contract back this year. I personally think they might do it - because it would save them about $2.25M of cash over the two year, even if it does cost them $2.25 against the cap next year.
A total savings of, what, $400,000? Some extra room to make an overpayment to Steve Mason in 2011-12? Any benefit of Clark's contract versus Chimera's is negligible and Chimera is at least capable of playing in the bottom 6.
One year less we we would have Clark count compared to Chimera. It's amazing how you still are unable to wrap your head around it. It's really quite simple, I just don't get you. We save in years and total dollars payed.
