Limb-staff! 4-1!

I'm going to go get a Frosty even though I wasn't there tonight.

Almost everybody I wanted to get off to a good start has a goal now. Except Shea or Suter, but they've helped out. I just wanted Hornqvist, Sully, and Legwand off the schnide early this year. Whoot!

Leggy! Dumont and Erat assists.

Now a Wilson goal please...

Yea, he played for a bit longer after it happened, a minute or 2 then decided to call it a night and skated off.
there are 81 games left, I bet its precautionary.

100 shots allowed in two games... not a good time to be a Ducks fan.

I felt that it was a solid game for most of the guys, I didn't really want to analyze any of them too much because I'm just too excited for hockey season to be up and running. Nice to win the season opener, but it's too bad about Rinne. Getting injuries out of the way early is good though, as long as we have all of our guys for the playoffs. HOCKEY

I was sad it was over! I might just watch it again!

Everything seemed so natural, chemistry looks good, win almost seemed a little...easy?

I'm just so giddy now that hockey is back! Off-season depression is gone! Life is great again!

The PP, however.

As was said on the radio it was a game that had everyone play well.

O'Brien didnt look good in the first period but finished strong.

Wilson and Erat were around but did nothing great.

Cal O'Reilly was probably our best center and that is saying a lot as Lombardi looked like a beast out there and Legwand and Goc got on the scoresheets.

What a game. Just incredible to have hockey be back.

I thought everyone looked decent out there. SOB and Klien had their rough patches, but also made some nice plays. Sick goals by Goc and Horny. Play of the Night by Suter when he dove across the net.

So on the radio they said Pekka is day-to-day with a lower body injury. Anyone have any more details? I imagine he'll be ready to go for next game and he was removed for precautionary reasons..

Scary way to start the season. Too bad because other than Peks going down it was a perfect night.

Not taking anything away from a well played game by the Preds, but boy is it going to be a long season for the Ducks. When an 18 year old kid is the best defenseman they have, wow, they're going to have to do better then .5 goals per game.

That was actually a good one but a few of them looked pretty bad. It doesn't matter at this point because I can see us improving over time, hopefully.

The PK on the other hand has improved. Great kill on the 5 on 4 that became a 5 on 3 that became a 5 on 4.

That defense is atrocious and really it may be better to send Fowler back to the Juniors because it is going to be a rough season all around and his confidence may be shot at the end of the year.

What a snipe by Goc. A perfect shot! And also by, to a lesser degree, by Koivu (*******) The boys really scrapped tonight...good to see. I really wish they would have put a 5 spot on those goons.
I feel for the ducks fans...if tonight was any indication...have fun in the basement.
Hope Rinne is OK.

I actually thought Klein had a good night as did Franson. Looking at the stat sheet Klein played almost 22 minutes.

Like the way SOB cleared the puck on the pk....

O'Reilly looked very strong.

A few observations:

- Lombardi surprised me with how good he was on faceoffs. He gets real low and creates a lot of leverage.

- The Klein-Boullion pairing was pretty good. Klein looked good for the most part but had his shaky moment when he let Bodie chip the puck by him untouched. You got to hold your man up for a split second when that happens. If he does that Boullion gets the puck before Bodie and Peks never gets hurt. Also, Klein looked pretty lost on the PP.

- O'Brein was terrible every time he touched the puck the first 3 shifts or so. But he shook the nerves and rust off and finished pretty strong. It seems Trotz was more comfortable letting Franson out there a little more at EV with O'brien. That allowed Franson to jump up into the play for multiple good scoring chances. (Just finish one!) I've been hard on Franson but he had a good all around game today. Hope he can continue that.

- Erat got 17 minutes of ice time but I hardly remember him during the game. Invisible man for sure tonight.

- I hate that Smithson gets so much ice time on a team that is deep on forwards like ours but hey you can't argue with results for the shutdown line. No points for the big 3 in Ana.

- Poor Fowler must be wondering what he got himself into. 18 year old looks like the best Dman for the Ducks. You got to wonder if they will keep him up this year. Yeah he is easily good enough to crack their D corps but if this is going to be a long year for the Ducks you don't want him going through a rough season at 18.

TOI Leaders:
Suter ~27
Weber ~26
Klein ~22.5
Erat ~17

Our highest TOI for a forward was only 17. Interesting to note.

Suter and Weber played almost half the game and only allowed 6 shots against while they were on the ice. Best 1-2 in the NHL.

Lombardi is going to be great to watch this season.

He looked smaller than I remember him and Franson looked bigger than I remember him.

Lindback's family was over for the game, good for him that he got to play well in front of them. Also good that we dont play until Wednesday, get well Pekka!

A few things happened within thirty feet of me. Suter's save was the furthest away, and most definitely the sweetest play I've seen that close. O'Brien had a couple of lapses directly in front of me, but nothing that was costly.

I was in the restroom when we scored the second goal. I was also in the restroom when Rinne got hurt. I'm torn. What do I do now?

Game replay is on NHL-Net....if you arent in the viewing region, if you are, you're blacked out.
Just sayin', someone might be up this late still.
