Leaving for Edmonton in a couple hours, hopefully the Panthers can pull off the win.

WELCOME BACK EVERYONE!

Tonight starts the preseason...will we qualify for the season come April???

Mac wouldn't dress against this line-up...if EDM had rights to Duco, that's who they'd use to bully the Cats.
Beware Penner (Probably gonna net at least one tonight)

OK! Enough being negative, GO CATS GO!!!!
(I think of the scene in Little Giants ..."GI-ANTS, GI-ANTS, help - us - God!")

Yeah, they got no defense. They shut out the flames the other night. How did they do that with no defense..

We have no defense, IMO.

Also, in a twist of fate, right before the game, Eberle and Hall decide they're going to adopt a family and retire from hockey, living in an igloo somewhere behind Rexall Place. They train their kids in the ways of the force, i mean hockey, and we draft each of their kids in 18 years, becoming a dynasty for millions of years.

Happy Hockey, folks.
5-0 Panthers, Olesz with 4 goals. I would say 5 but that's too unrealistic.

Real prediction: Oil over Panthers by a score of 4-1

That's because the Flames have no offense. Then again, the Panthers have no offense, either.

Either way, I'm glad the season is back!

Been holding post 1000, for this thread. Hopefully, the team can overachieve and maybe snag that 8 spot. I'm not ready to jump on the tank bandwagon this early.

The Oilers don't go into games looking to start trouble... I think the Panthers are the same. It's against teams that want to goon it up and purposely try to injure players (like Calgary and Vancouver) that MacIntyre will be dressing.

Ruined my sleeping after returning from US, if I can't sleep I won't even hesitate to watch this game. Über pumped, I'm also not going to jump on the tank wagon yet, maybe we can pull a Colorado this season. You never know when you got a great goaltender like Vokoun.

It's been like 5 months of pain without Panthers hockey.

the fact that rhino is a healthy scratch shows you the difference in the organization from last year to this. i say this season is already a success for the simple reason that the team wont put up with lollygagging any more. we dont have the team yet, but at least we finally have the leadership.

OK, so there won’t be a heavyweight bout tonight after all between former Panther Steve MacIntyre and recycled Panther Darcy Hordichuk as the Oilers scratched Mac, however his younger replacement Zack Stortini, who’s 6-4, 215 and finished 15th in majors last season with 17, might step in.

Neither Mac nor Hordichuk would’ve had their hearts in it anyway as their friendship date back to junior days in Saskatchewa 10 years ago. In fact, Mac waited after his morning skate Saturday to greet his former mates, including coach DeBoer and Hordichuk, and said he would’ve had a few of the boys over for dinner if he knew they were coming in a day early. However, Panthers had a team dinner Saturday night at Ruths Cris steakhouse up the block from the hotel.

As expected after watching Saturday’s skate Kenndal McArdle and Steve Reinprecht will be the healthy scratches tonight. Reino played all 82 last seasons. With the season kicking off with back-to-backs he could be back in the lineup tomorrow against the Canucks. It also depends on how that fourth line does. Steve Bernier and Horidchuk will skate together for the first time (in Vancouver Bernier was usually on the second line and Hordi on the fourth) with Marty Reasoner.

Reasoner who played parts of six seasons with Edmonton (2001-2008) was anxious to do well tonight. He had a great line about getting traded to Atlanta from Edmonton after the ‘08 season and then to Florida last July for Jeff Taffe.
“I keep going further south. I don’t know if I’m going to make Mexico my next stop,” he said.

So Gudbranson didn't make the panthers but fowler made the ducks and played nearly 21 minutes in his first regular season game as a duck?

Man the ducks got a steal.

Excited that the season is FINALLY here!

Bummed that FSN and Dish Network can't resolve their issues.
