He just hasn't been all that great. You can count me in with the group that thinks having Carter on his wing just doesn't seem to work very well. That combined with Carcillo on the other wing leaves a lot to be desired. Richards is the least of my worries in the long run. He'll be fine.
First few games. No biggie. I didn't think he looked disinterested. Just shaking the cobwebs off maybe. Also, Carter isn't really helping. They need to be split up. Carter needs to play center.
It's funny how when someone criticizes Richards everyone passes the blame or says it's only 2 games but anyone else is open game. Hell, Carter gets thrown under the bus in a thread that never mentioned his name. For the record, I don't think anything is wrong with Richards but it's just funny how people will do anything to make him invincible.
Why don't we leave JVR on the top line with Richards and Carter? Carcillo does not belong there and may compliment Giroux and Zherdev by doing the dirty work.

I agree. That line was looking pretty sexy in the third period last game.
If Carcillo is in the top 9 it has to be with Richards IMO, I think Carter and Carcillo in any capacity is not going to work. I would flip flop Carcillo and JVR personally.

No, he doesn't. All that people are saying is that Richards and Carter on the same line doesn't work. Because it doesn't. That's not really their fault.
Crosby and Malkin on the same line doesn't work too well, either.

Well, for one it is hard to tell if anyone is really disinterested, especially when on Friday it looked like half the team didn't want to play.
You can say the same thing about Richards being thrown under a bus when people say Carter is not producing/looking good when Richards is at center.

Carcillo doesn't win puck battles though. Seriously who's going to worry about Dan Carcillo when Carter has the puck. Personally I'de like to see Carter with Leino, as his ability to slow the game down off the rush and hold the puck would help open up shooting lanes for Carter IMO.

Leino already does that for Briere, and if I'm being honest, I prefer Briere's shooting ability to Carter's.

Richards does look sluggish. He ran his hockey camp, but I think he took it easy this summer relative to say Stamkos working out with Roberts or JVR. Give him a few games and we'll see.
Regardless, it will take a lot for me to like that line.
