Binghamton practice today.................

Defenseman Andre Benoit and forward Cody Bass appear to be missing along with the two goalies.

I agree. The team looks a lot more skilled this year already. We still might be ok.

Yeah, that isn't good.

Yes they can send one back to Elmira. I think Brust is suppose to be the main man in Elmira, with Brodeur and Lehner in Bingo. Similar situation to last season when we had Holt, Chiodo, and Brodeur.

Typically ? Not very long, if you have all your documentation.

I'm beginning to wonder if they are purposely waiting to see how Leclaire and Elliott do the first few games before "sending him down." Even though technically he's been set down i think. It would suck if we ended up with another Gerber situation.

I don't think so personally. Much better to have Robin playing meaningful pro games than waiting to see how the goaltending does in Ottawa. Easy enough to call him up.

Plus...our D in Ottawa is not doing anyone any favours to say the least.

EDIT: Although, there's a quick and easy way to galvanize players and make them wake up and smell the coffee - as well as playing a simpler, smarter game. That's to stick a rookie goalie in nets.

Barry Brust does not have a two-way NHL contract; he's on a two-way AHL contract and the plan was for him to be the starter in Elmira.

Heard a unconfirmed rumor Brust hurt his knee tonite................................
Pierre Dorian was in town to watch the games this weekend (Tim Murray couldn't find Binghamton on his GPS) and confirmed that Brust basically hyperextended his right knee a few minutes into the second period Saturday night and could not bend his knees to drop to the ice without being in tremndous pain. It was his game no matter how many Norfolk scored because they had no intention on playing the Elmira callup. Brodeur has stitches in the back of his head and couldn't wear his mask without irritating them and possibly causing an infection.

Wick....invisible and looked uninterested in playing. O'Brien...two nice goals but a huge defensive liability and his lack of interest in playing defense led directly to the go-ahead goal. Wiercioch needs to decide whether he wants to play forward or wing, as he joined the rushes so many times I thought we had an extra forward out there...also not interested in playing much defense Saturday night.

Yeah, I agree with all the above comments. Wiercioch was trying to stick handle through traffic all night and at one point got a decent attempt on goal, but he is a defenseman. He looked like he wanted to get in there and score all by himself. Perhaps the opposite of Wick, who just skated around touched the puck a few times then headed to the bench at the end of his shift.

Sounds like he's trying to "dominate" offensively in order to prove he's ready to make impacts in the NHL. He's probably got to tone back a bit and wait for the opportunities to come to him rather than trying to make them out of nothing.

Is he getting PP time?

Why are there no games this week until Friday, then back-to-back-to-back?

This is pretty much how the AHL works. Teams play ~85% of their games on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

A few bits from Joys blog 10-12-2010

A few bits from Joys blog

Robin Lehner is expected to arrive in Binghamton later today and practice with the team tomorrow. Really this time. #BSens 3 minutes ago via Twitter for BlackBerry®

# Mike Brodeur is not participating in today's golf outing, still feeling the effects of what the team has confirmed as a concussion. #BSens 5 minutes ago via Twitter for BlackBerry®

I would think so that Lehner starts.

I guess Brust will back up, give Brodeur time to clear his head as concussions can be tricky things.....................

It will be a good test for Lehner as the class of the AHL visits Friday, the Hershey Bears. I wish him a lot of luck...............

I hope we take lots of penalties so we can see how Lehner stands up to an elite slapshot.

Did you not see his glove save on Phaneuf's slapper during a 5on3 for the Leafs?
