Is it just me, or is this goal not 2 times better?

fair point... it was hilarious. I can't see any Preds media members doing that -- that is, unless it deals with 300 pound offensive lineman trying to catch punts. Oh wait...

I'm surprised no one has taken the opportunity to pile on Poile for taking Pikard when Eberle went a few picks pater, so I'll go ahead.

Man, wouldn't it have been nice to have added another skilled forward with our second first rounder in '08! Alas, Poile had to go against the grain and pick Pikard, who STILL HASN'T DEVELOPED!

sarcasm off.

If only Poile could predict the future!

What??? You mean our 20-year-old goaltender hasn't developed yet?!?!

sarcasm off.

At the time we drafted Pickard we were in need of a quality goaltender in the pipeline. Goaltenders take longer to develop and Nashville has a history of not rushing their prospects so your arguement isn't very valid.

I firmly believe that Pickard is the goalie of the future for us, just may take a few years yet. Let him play it up in Milwaukee for now!

That "sarcasm off" thing meant I was kidding.

At anytime we have ever drafted, we have always needed someone who could create offense.

I'm willing to see how Pickard turns out, but right now, it's looking like Eberle or Ennis would have been the better pick for a offensively starved organization.

As a whole, goalies in the 1st round don't have a great success rate. For the Preds, we're 0 for 1, and have one on deck.

Eberle and Ennis were long shots to even crack an NHL roster at the time when they were drafted. If we didn't draft a goalie at that spot, we'd have been forced to draft another defenseman. There were several quality dmen at that spot.

I think we took a gamble by drafting Pickard a little early because he and Wilson were long time friends
