Good god there's a bunch. Quite a few of these teams are running close to the cap too.

We'll have more than $10mil in cap space with Skrastins and Daley coming off the books, (and assuming Richie re-signs).

I'll take a couple of right-shots... Salo for 2 years at $3m (assuming his rehab goes well) and Bieksa at $3.5m for 4. Who do you like?

Neither of the two you mentioned. Give me Ehrhoff or White and offersheet Weber, Seabrook, and Bogosian and hope you can get one. None of this is likely however.

I would take Pitkanen, Ehrhoff, Wisniewski, White, or Babchuk off that list in an instant. All great 2nd pairing guys (Pitkanen and Ehrhoff are probably 1st pairing guys) that are still young enough to be in the primes of their careers throughout the duration of the contract.

Pitkanen seemed really lazy the two games in the two games from Helsinki.

If I were up to me, I'd either trade assets for Suter, Weber, Seabrook... maybe Yandle or just find a way to lure Ian White here.

If for some odd reason we got a chance at Markov, even though he's a bit older than what we need, I'd pick him up immediately. Pitkanen maybe, along with White and Ehrhoff, but if we're going to try and pick up a defensemen through FA, RFA is definitely the way we need to go. Seabrook, Alzner, Jack Johnson, Smid or Yandle would all help, but I don't know much about the guys on the lower end of that list, so that's just going off of what little I have seen.

Ehrhoff Dallas should go after.

I wouldn't go anywhere near Pitkanen. He's had a reputation as a lazy player and a poor guy in the locker room. If Joe wants to have positive presences in the locker room, Pitkanen would be the ultimate 180 on that stance.

Some of those RFA's would be nice but I wouldn't hold my breath on any of them becoming avaliable.

Ehrhoff would be one guy I'd go after for sure.

I suspect if Ian White hits UFA Dallas will be after him.

No doubt.

Joe Neiuwendyk loved his play back in Toronto.

I've read that a few times, but I've never actually seen a news account or quote backing that up. Where does it come from? What gives you the impression that is true?

Note: I don't doubt it is, but I'm curious where it comes from.

After the benn hit and the blatent head shot he planted on seabrook last year i would puke if i saw him in a stars uni. Maybe a career threatening knee on knee might look good on him.

That Benn hit was clean and the concussion came from their heads colliding accidentally. As for the shot on Seabrook, Wisniewski isn't the only guy in the league that has thrown a dirty hit. If we limit ourselves to only the clean players we won't have much of a selection haha.

Wisniewski is a fine young defenceman that can play big minutes against top opposition players and not look out of place. That's the same reason I have Pitkanen on my list - the guy will play up to 30 minutes a night with no problems. Those types of guys are pretty valuable. They may not be the star defenceman that everyone thinks we need but they'd be great additions to the depth.

Exactly. We kept Neal didn't we?

I've always liked Wisniewski's game. It really just depends on the money.
