Already see glaring differences in this team's demeanor compared to last year. They simply have more fight, more desire. I attribute that to a new captain and the disappointing exit from last years playoff. Horny is much more vocal - saw it during camp scrimmages and exhibitions. Weber is allowing no one to take liberties. Klein and Cube are mixing it up. Whether we put up 100 points again - I can't say. But Weber's team will be fun to watch!

In fairness, it has been one game. Let's see what happens say... ten games in.

I know the Ducks are an AWFUL team. But I am more comfortable with this team than ANY other the Preds have had. They took up for their teammates, cleared out the crease on defense, crashed the net on offense and everyone outside of JP Dumont looked to shoot the puck.

which btw, why was Dumont PROMOTED to the top line when he was at fault for the Ducks only goal?

I thought Wilson looked good and JP didn't... seemed odd to me.

JP looked good most of the night. He was on the two-on-one with Goc to open the scoring and then assisted Legwand's goal- remember it was JP's shot on goal that allowed Legwand to score (off his own rebound of course). JP had some jump in his game.

The only player that really looked invisible to me was Erat (who got no shots on net), but that's likely due to that somewhat ailing back (if I were to give the benefit of the doubt).

And that's being really nit-picky on my part regarding Erat.

Although Weber and Suter are our top pair, Trotz usually likes to use them to exploit the other teams weakness, especially at home.
No.

Practically every time 25-11-29 hit the ice, 20-6 was with them. It started that way and was that way with about 3 minutes to go when Getlaf tried to get Weber to go.

I noted the return of 25-11-29 on my twitter feed, but did not get an opportunity to ask Trotz about the deviation from camp/practice lines.

That said, I can understand the switch up given the strength of Anaheim's top line.

Now, Klein and Bouillon played a pretty decent game. Yes Klein made a mistake on that goal, but they'll happen occasionally. I was pretty happy with both.

Generally most players will be right around even, but you look for the guys that are out of whack (ie: Erat having the worst Corsi among forwards last night and Klein and Bouillon being the only defensemen to finish as negatives) and then figure out why.

Personally, I thought that O'Reilly had a very good game at both ends of the rink and the Corsi rating (+6) shows me that. However, when you take into consideration that his linemates were each (+10) it also tells me that my feelings that he struggled a couple of times as well and has a higher level to reach yet.

I believe O'Reilly will stick this year as a full-time NHL'er and to me, beyond watching for obvious triumphs (points) and struggles (blown coverage/goals against) this will be a good stat to continue to judge him by. Being a playmaking scoring line center, if he's in the negative it means that not only did he do poorly in any particular game, but that his linemates likely also had difficult nights since a negative index would tell me that he spent the majority of his night in the defensive end of the rink.
I agree with all of that Seth.

I thought that O'Reilly was particularly effective with his stick on the back check.

EDIT: That got me curious to check the stats. O'Reilly had the most take-aways (from both teams) with 3. Legwand had 2 and no other player (from either team) had more than one.

I thought that O'Brien looked a bit tentative at times.

That said, I think that should be a bit expected for a couple of games.

True, true. But I did notice the different demeanor in camp as well. For example Hornqvist seems like a man on a mission. During scrimmages he was arguing with the refs. Even seemed disgusted with himself when he failed to score on prime opportunities.

But I have to say I do not miss Arny's lackadaisical leadership.

He looked good because he was a useless key to a 2-on-1? I could have done that...

IMO, his defensive lapse was MUCH larger than any offensive play he made all game. It is sad to see arguably our most skilled guy on the 4th line while JP loses his man in our own defensive zone on the 1st. His promotion was not warranted, IMO.

Nope, wasn't putting any weight on his left leg after a collision. Looked like an ankle injury...

FWIW, I'm watching the Rags-Isles too in the third!

Hm, so Ducks have scored 2 goals in their first 3 games...all of them by Koivu.
Pretty darn sad.
But hell, At least Koivus on my fantasy team...

I don't think the ducks will be lobbying to move to the central division anytime soon. You know it's bad when columbus is licking its chops

I'm pretty sure they wouldn't be lobbying for same even if they were still in Stanley Cup Champs form. The travel schedule would be a fun little slice of hell.

Alternative response: what

Ducks outscored 13-2 in 3 games,

Nobody in their right mind would want to move to the Central

About $1500 (for the box). You buy them just like any other seats. (or in my case, have a friend who likes to sit there on occasion!) You really don't see much of the actual "game" (if it doesn't happen in the neutral zone, you're watching the jumbotron), but the experience of being between the benches is still awesome!
