Comcast-Spectacor today changed the start time of the Philadelphia Flyers vs. Pittsburgh Penguins game at Wells Fargo Center on Saturday, October 16 to 6 p.m. to allow fans an opportunity to attend or watch both the Flyers vs. Penguins and Game One of the National League Championship Series between the Philadelphia Phillies and the San Francisco Giants at Citizens Bank Park beginning at 7:57 p.m.
“By changing the start time, we hope to reduce traffic congestion in South Philadelphia for fans headed to either game, and at the same time allow our fans an opportunity to be able to watch the Phillies-Giants game,” said Comcast-Spectacor President Peter Luukko. “Everyone at Comcast-Spectacor is just as excited about the Phillies as the entire City of Philadelphia, and we wish the Phillies the best of luck.
“We’d like to thank the Pittsburgh Penguins for adjusting their schedule to play the game at the newly scheduled time,” added Luukko.

It's been discussed as a possibility but nothing has been confirmed yet. It requires approval of the NHL, Penguins and likely the PA. The time start could be moved to mid-to-late afternoon.

I don't see why it is an issue. The Flyers could just promise to be flexible the next time the Pirates make the postseason...
Did we ever get the correct info on the amount of time between starts for a team? I thought it was 21 hours, but I've also seen 23 put out here. I just searched "hours" in the CBA in the Business thread, and found nothing relating to time between games.
I listened here and there when they were on in Philly... the classic shock jocks who think expletives are funny. At least Howard Stern was innovative when he did it, now it is stale and unfunny.
That comedian they have with them is absolutely horrible as well, seriously, all he did is use the word **** (rhymes with hunt) in a really loud, exaggerated voice and then do an awkward laugh.
Game changed to 6pm per 610AM WIP Flyers producers
they just got word of the change for their broadcast schedule
That is almost worse from a tv viewing standpoint for me.
My personal viewing importance: innings 7-9, innings 1-3, period 3, innings 4-6, period 2, period 1
Flyers at 7, Phillies at 8 means that you can watch period 1 unhindered, period 2 during commercial breaks of innings 1-3, innings 4-6 during commercial breaks of period 3 and innings 7-9 unhindered.
Flyers at 6, Phillies at 8 means we get periods 1 and 2 unhindered and period 3 during commerical breaks of innings 1-3.
Why can't we just tell ****tsburg to suck it and start at 5? Does Crosby have a pedicure appointment he can't miss?

I would have suggested just starting at 1, but I guess not everyone involved (Pens, NHLPA, etc) agree with that. Fans leave by 4-5, gives 5-7 for Phils fans to pile in. Solves your viewing problem too.

Eh they'll do the long intros because it's game 1, they'll have a celebrity anthem singer...you'll probably only have to choose between the first inning and the last 5-10 minutes. Of course I've been spoiled by DVR...TV timeout, switch over, see an at-bat, etc.

I'll be returning from Rutgers-Army this weekend. Since it's at the Meadowlands instead of Rutgers stadium, I probably won't be back until 7. I'll probably keep my eye on the score and just watch the Phils when I get back with my friends.
But in relation to your post, I'd do that too if I was home. I love my DVR.

Lincecum vs. Halladay... no way am I risking missing that first inning.
I enjoy watching elite pitching... it is a true rarity to be able to watch the 2 best pitchers in the game today dueling... and the first inning they will both be fresh/running on adrenaline so, presumably, their stuff will be at its best.
