Todd White as our Bottom Pair Defenseman? I hope you jest.

Quote:
White, though, spent some time in a red defenseman’s jersey during today’s practice. He’s a lefthanded shot, and the Rangers are looking for help on the left side of their third defensive pair. Tortorella described the bottom of the blue-line roster as “a fluid situation” today. Is it possible that White might be called on to convert from forward at this stage of his career? He’s been a solid two-way center over time, so it’s not out of the realm of possibility. We’ll find out more tomorrow, to be sure.

I pray that this is based on confusion by Spector, because the very idea leaves me baffled.

Send a message via AIM to Radek27
Even in that role he makes too much.

Send this guy to HDF and get a Dman in here if thats what the coach wants.

This has to be a joke... Gilroy converted to defense when he was 20 and is still adapting to the position. You're telling me that a 35 year old forward coming off of an injury filled season will be able to play defense and not be a liability?

a center is the most defensively responsible forward so its not like the guy would be a complete buffoon back there. would def be a slap in the face to gilroy/eminger tho

errr well this makes no sense

only thing that would make sense is if they trade for a lefty Dman then send White down to make space.

I think its written in stone that Gilroy will be replaced whether it be a deal for a vet or McD/VTank

oho, yes he could be.

If were going defense by committee, Brian Boyle spent a lot of time at Boston College playing defense.

He's a scratch so he was practicing as a d-men so the forward corps can get in sync. I wouldn't look into this that much. It's more of Spector showing his rookie journalism.

If we're gona go this route, might as well just call up Leetch and see what he's doing.

Big deal. So theyre seeing if he's completely lost or if they could use him on the PP on the point. The more versatile he is, the better chance he will either crack this lineup or find himself a job with another team.

Or Redden. If this is true, this is just going to be an absolute failure. I fail to see how it wouldn't...

I guess it would answer the question, "Why is Todd White still on this team?"

Honestly though, I seriously doubt anything comes of this.

lol Torts is a lunatic

Anyone else notice the jumbled lines starting during game 2..... didnt take long for Torts to get the itch. I like Torts, I do wish he would just let lines stay set for a few games.

Doesn't sound like a good idea to me. Would rather see a young-buck go through some growing pains this year at that position than gamble on a dinosaur who I feel deserves to be in Hartford. And I don't really dislike White either. I think we have better alternatives than him.

I think HP pretty much summed it up.

Much ado about nothing.
