if people start blaming 4th liners as reasons we're losing games consistently its time to take a step away

This is HFboards anything goes. People will blame whoever they can.

Bottom line is Mair is a better hockey player than Leblond right now, and that's exactly what we need given our situation. When/if we get under the cap, maybe we'll have a spot for him.
Mair is better. And if we need a fighter for a game that "may" get out of hand, we can always call up Stoesz or Robitaille for our goonery.

4th line isn't the reason they can't win a game. Not having a full 4th line is certainly a contributing factor, though. Honestly, it does help to have decent players on the 4th line. Guys who can play more than 3 or 4 minutes and can chip in with points or by drawing, not taking, penalties occasionally.

The main issue is that as a hockey player, Le Blond is useless, especially in the Devils current situation. At least Mair can play a little. He's an upgrade.

Would you rather I said "15-20" points?

If Mair scores more than 10 points, he'll be better than any fourth liner we've had in years. Anything more than that is gravy.

We should have kept Mike Rupp. Heavyweight who can fight but also play hockey.

Nevermind, I forgot that he didn't want to stick around in that role.

Then he got off to a good start with the Pens and the bandwagoners claimed he was a top-6 winger

McAmmond has 17 pts in 62 games, I know we should have kept him.

He was inconsistent but better then every 4th liner I know.

McAmmond had 17 points because he wasn't played strictly as a fourth liner. There were times where Lemaire had him centring Parise, for ****'s sake.

He was pretty good to rely upon and should have stayed here.

But Mair has been pretty good, and I really think with the whole Rolston LTIR thing they may call Leblond right back up to the club.
