I'm most excited to see Randy Jones return, now because when he passes it to the other team I don't need new underwear.

didn't even get a chance to think of this before the game with all the hoopla going into it already. Here's to hoping he does, although if he somehow plays decent and or god forbid, scores a goal, who wants to bet our bright GM won't be pining to somehow clean house to get him back?! hahaha

Jones doesn't really get first PP time, thats Kubinas, and after his play so far you'll probably see Hedman more on the second unit.

How has Meszaros been so far?

This article is from yesterday's Inquirer and was complimentary:

http://www.philly.com/philly/sports/...m_s_image.html

Quote:
In the season's first three games, newcomer Andrej Meszaros has fit right into the Flyers' image. The sturdy 6-foot-2, 220-pounder has seven hits - including a team-high four against Colorado on Monday - and has looked more like the defenseman who once excelled in Ottawa than the one who struggled in Tampa Bay the last two years.

"When you play with good players, it's easier," he said after Tuesday's practice in Voorhees.

The Flyers have arguably the league's deepest defense. It's so deep that Meszaros, who made the NHL's rookie all-star team in 2006, is on the Flyers' third pairing, along with Sean O'Donnell.

Meszaros downplayed Thursday's meeting against his former Tampa teammates at the Wells Fargo Center.

Good for him. We lacked any resemblance of defensive structure last year, so pretty much everyone looked terrible. Pretty damning when they can't figure out to move Meszaros to the other side of the ice, and then bench the other guy who lead your team in blocked shots for the years in only 40 games.

Coaching was ****ing stupid last year.

Haha. I was thinking the same...which brings me to another thought...what ever happened to that dude who was obsessed with OKT? Did he follow him to Detroit's board and then Russia or wherever he may be now? I wonder if he secretly wants to kill Leino?

I really liked Gagne as a Flyer - great skater, great shot, great in his own end.

However - those days are gone and now he plays for Tampa Bay. I hope he gets pounded and never even sniffs a scoring chance. Like any other opponent besides Avery, Crosby, Orr and Lapierre - I only hope that he doesn't get injured.

Agreed. The Flyers traded away my "current favorite player" a few times before (Poulin [1990], Recchi [1995], Renberg [1997 & 2000]). Oh well. I'm still a Flyers fan, so the team ranks first.

LET'S GO, FLYERS!

As the new captain, Brian Gionta was given the task of introducing the 2010/11 Habs line-up at their home opener last night.

He intentionally called Lapierre 'Laperriere' because so many announcers butcher the name.

In a related story, Gionta's French is pretty awful but he gets kudos for the effort.

Can't wait to see Randy Jones fall for no reason which leads to a 3 on 1 for us. What is he good for two of those a game?
Also looking forward to Jones go to move you know the shoot as hard as you can into the guys shin pads in front of you which leads to a breakaway.

Gagne's return

http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=540547

Quote:
PHILADELPHIA -- Simon Gagne stared at his phone, refusing to look out the window of the bus taking the Tampa Bay Lightning from Philadelphia International Airport to their team hotel in the wee hours of Thursday morning.

"It was weird," Gagne said Thursday afternoon. "I was trying not to think too much that I was back here."

But Gagne was back in the city he called home for 10 seasons, the city where his professional career was born and blossomed, the city where he became a star in orange and black. Only, this time he was back in Philadelphia as a visitor, flying in to a familiar airport only to take a very unfamiliar bus ride to a hotel he never once had a reason to stay.

As if Randy Jones is going to stink up the place tonight. He's a beast of a player.
