He's just changed his name to Paajarvi, but that's been his nickname among Oiler fans.
Magnus Paajarvi-Svensson is a beast. I'd love either of Taylor Hall, MPS, or Eberle on the Flyers. I envy the Oilers in that regard. Sick prospects!
He shortened it to Magnus Paajarvi for the NHL. He also has a brother Bjorn Svensson who plays for Timra.
His fathers surname is Svensson and his mothers is Paajarvi. I'm surprised each brother picked a different one. His bio says his parents are divorced though, so I see the reasoning.
EDIT: Oh, and I am a Carter fan, but I would certainly consider Gagner and MPS for Carter. I'd probably do it too.
Wouldn't do that first deal, but I'd do the Carter for Gagner/MPS. I'm a big fan of Gagner and I think he could really light it up in Philly if he isn't being relied on to be the top scorer.
Not sure why people are so down on this trade. I doubt the Oilers wold do it. Why would the Oilers trade away part of the core future of their team (MPS/Gagner) + others for one good player and a walking interference call? More importantly, why wouldn't the Flyers take on two very young very promising players for one player who really only had one season that is any better than anything Gagner ever put up? Throw in a solid player like Cogliano and it is a no brainer for the Flyers to take this deal. I'm not trying to harsh on Carter or on Hartnell, but Gagner and MPS have equal if not higher ceilings than Carter and Hartnell isn't much better, if he even is at all, than Cogliano. Khabiboulin (sp) is worthless though. I'd rather have Deslauries.
easy pass, think about it the flyers are trying to WIN THIS YEAR, what the hell do we want with a bunch of guys who are nowhere near their prime yet? mps is a helluva player but he is not ready to step in and replace a guy with 40-goal capability right away.
even beyond the age mismatch here, personnel wise it is awful. i do not like the way many flyers fan overstate our crowded center situation when three of our guys are very capable wingers. that is not a liability, that is an asset, it's called versatility and carter (along with giroux and briere) is a part of it. gagner and cogliano are not capable wingers or goal scorers. this would give us a REAL log jam at center and that is a best-case scenario because it would mean both guys played well enough to stick with a good NHL team (for a change).
i dont know where you read there was interest in bulin but there is none. anywhere. in the nhl. maybe not on earth. he has a terrible contract. he is old. he is coming off a month in jail. he is about as desirable in the hockey world as allen iverson in the basketball world right now.
reasonable but i would consider it if i knew carter was trying to be a mercenary this offseason which seems unlikely given all the circumstances. if he were heading for UFA and had never had a big contract, yes, i'd do it in a heartbeat, as it is, no probably not.
i'd do this trade in a heartbeat, however since your willing to do this, why don't you throw in Hall and Eberle and we'll throw in Carcillo and Walker. Seriously though I was thinking Edm would be a good team to trade with because of their abundance of young guns and our cap trouble next summer
Hartnell is terrible. He takes stupid penalties and loses games. I've lost all hope for him. He also seems to have a problem skating. He's falling down constantly. Also, he can't pass. I can't be the only one who wonders wtf he's doing every shift. Wow. He hit someone after a bad pass. Ah, he fell down again. Okay, looks like he's angry. Viola! A penalty.
And Carter plays so small it is almost as shameful as his pathetic cowboy goal celebrations. 36 goals from Carter and dumping Hartnell for those prospects and dumping a ton of salary?
