I'm hearing Lindback from a reliable source... Peks could go if all is well, but seems a little doubtful.

If true, makes sense. Why rush Rinne when you have shown that Lindback can play?

im hoping these arent major injuries that the team is just down playing. lindback looked good, and i understand letting pekka getting healthy, i agree. but just hope its not a 2-3 week injury for him and erat.

Tonight is a night we could really use Rinne. The Blues always play us tough. Here is to hoping that we continue to find offense. I absolutely detest wasting Legwand on a shut-down line AGAIN this year. Ah well, I can't wait for the inevitable posts about his lack of production half-way through the season with hands of stone Smithson and slow as molasses Ward as his linemates. With that said, the trio can play some tight defense!

if Erat and SK are out again, I really wish we'd recall Halischuk or Klasen from Milwaukee, rather than wasting the spot on 3 minutes of Belak.

I kinda like the fact that it shortens the bench a little...plays the top three lines more.

wouldnt want to do it all year...

Without making another move, I donít think the Preds have room to bring up someone for Erat. With Dekanich up as the backup they have 25 guys on the roster with Lundmark and Kostitsyn on IR Ė leaving 23 currently active.

I'm expecting a tough game, witch I'm really looking forward to. The blues have been really hyped up during the off season witch i don't really see myself, but we will see...

I'm more confident in Lindback than i was before the last game

I'm thinking 3-2 Preds (O'Reilly,Hornqvist,Legwand)

"slow as molasses Ward" scored the GWG last night....

Yes, he slow, but he plays the exact same role as Hornqvist. He goes to the front of the net and messes with the goalie. Hes a true battler and competitor, and I really love what he brings to the team.

couldnt agree more. cant get enough of ward to be honest. think his contract is up next year (?) and we need players like him as long as this team is around. i hope he doesnt become a casualty of keeping weber and suter.

Ehh I know his role on his PP unit is being the guy in front of the net but 5 on 5 he's more of a puck possession along the boards type of guy. I don't really see those two being comparable.

I also would like to see Legwand get some time, and by some time I mean more than 2-3 games, with some skilled players but Trotz loves his shutdown line and like I said before as long as the results are there how can you argue?

It is funny how to start the year it looked like the lines were supposed to be this:

Erat-Lombo-Wilson
Hornqvist-O"Reilly-Sully
Dumont-Leggy-Wilson
Smitty-Goc- Toots

This was pretty much the consensus before the first game and it took Trotz all of about 10 minutes into the first game to break everything up and go back to the shutdown line. He just can't help himself.

knock toots off there and add ward, and i like that!

dont know where room is for SK, but having him toots and belak as scratches...man i would like to see those lines together! maybe the H O S line is a little week on the puck, but give her a shot.

edit: just saw you double shifted wilson. so one of three is on that third line (SK i would imagine), and then ward for toots, and put toots and belak in games we feel they are needed. like it. could still happen when everyone gets healthy again

or have SK/smithson/ward replace eachother occasionally

Why? So, Halischuk could sit on the press bench? So, he could play 5-10 minutes in place of who? Better to have Halischuk down playing regularly until we need him to replace an injury rather than have him sit around. Belak fills the role he has perfectly. He can play very occasionally and hit people when he's out there with out sacrificing too much defense.

I like Ward. I like him as a third line winger. I like his ability to tween up in a pinch. I don't like putting Smithson, the least offensively gifted player on the team outside of Belak, with our best skater and arguably best playmaker, and then adding in one of the slowest players as the other complimentary winger. In other words, you are essentially dismissing any offensive output on this line as purely a bonus. This line is for defense and defense alone.
