Damn...

Dreary fanboyz out in force today. He's going to be an anchor. Book it!

But he'll be the defensive conscience of the line...but, but...he blocks shots. He's on the top because that's where he'll be least disruptive. Jeez.

im gonna say high scoring game here. gaby with a pair.

4-4 with it going to a shootout

ill say hank wins it for us.
add Beuchemin and Gunnarson to that with Lebda as the spare.

Leafs D is actually good. Goaltending won't hold up though unless Giggy turns back the clock or Gustavson becomes a mini Henrik

Upfront they are lacking depth and top end scoring but they play hard real hard

Rangers should take this one . Upset if they dont

Yeah, just like the Isles, they will probably come in hard on the fore-check which really ****ed us up on Monday.
The boys better be ready tonight.

The defense in particular needs to be quicker and make smarter decisions. The 1st line needs to start scoring as well.

Possibly a little side show to tonight's action.

Orr will be in the lineup according to Ron Wilson

"New York, October 15, 2010 – To kick off the historic 85th anniversary of the New York Rangers, the original six franchise is bringing a host of exciting new entertainment elements to add to the in-game action for the Rangers home opener. On Friday, October 15th, at 7PM, Blueshirt fans at MSG will get to experience Ace Frehley, founding member and lead guitarist for the legendary rock band KISS, live for a performance of his hit song “New York Groove.”"

I guess Blue Man Group was busy

I'm not big on all of this other nonsense but at least Back in the New York Groove is a good song. Also, the cake thing is happening between periods when most people don't give a **** so at least they picked a good time to do that.

That was my reaction too

Someone has to wake up the in game entertainment staff at MSG. The first couple of years after the lockout it was good, they just let the game be the entertainment. Now we have cakes, Blue Men Group and other nonsense. I also heard Shots as one of the songs played during one of the preseason games. I couldn't believe it.

Few things i'd like to see tonight (Sauer not playing is another story) :

1. Continue the hard forecheck. I think the 2nd and 3rd lines have done a great job with that and it has lead to many scoring chances. The 1st got better as the games wore on, but they need to do it from the onset.

2. Stop running around in your own end. Let the play come to you, and its up to the forwards to come down and support a little more. On a whole I think they are being hard on the puck and have done a good job of that but they have to be more controlled, specifically the defenseman (Rozy, Eminger, DZ, even Staal).

3. Get back to firing shots on net from all areas. We saw this a little in the preseason and it lead to a couple goals. We didnt see nearly enough of this last season, and with the defenseman on this team having problems getting pucks through to the net (all NHL teams have great shot blockers, and that part of the game will improve as the season goes on league wide) its the teams that arent afraid to throw creativity aside and throw bad angle shots on net to get the job done.

4. Defenseman continue to pinch correctly. A good pinch from the D has lead to goals and puck possession for the Rangers. Girardi has been great at this, as well as Sauer IMO. Sometimes it has lead to defensive lapses but thats the risk you take. Thats also the forwards responsibility to read and react. Its worked pretty well thus far so i dont think they should totally abandon it like years past due to giving up too many goals.

5. Power Play puck movement That Dubinksy, Anisimov, Cally line moved the puck like the a top PP last game. If Torts doesn't stick with them as a unit, he's going senile. I'd love to see Frolov and Gabby have better PP time in the zone, and that starts with setting it up in there. Curious to see if itll be Stepan or Drury centering that unit. If its up to me - I utilize Stepans playmaking ability (something thats been overlooked because of the hat trick).

That was so awfully cringe-worthy! I think they played right before the shootout.

Just because the word "shots" is used in a song doesn't mean it should be played at a hockey game. The shots the song refers to is more of the tequila and jager variety and not so much "shots on goal." The only time that song should be playing at MSG is if one of the Jersey Shore cast members are in the audience.

how is that stupidity? did you watch either of the first 2 games?? by the standards that henrik has set for himself he was AWFUL in those 2 games.

that doesn't mean that i'm saying that lundqvist isn't good or that i don't think he'll be fine over the long run. but this team will go as far as he can carry them and having him get back to being the goalie we have come used to seeing sooner rather than later is a big plus.

i have zero concern about him over the long run. throughout his career he has always had hot and cold streaks and at the end of the season his numbers are there...but i'm not sure how its 'stupidity' to say that i hope he starts one of his hot streaks tonight.

he might be an anchor and i don't think anyone will be surprised if he is awful in that spot...but we are stuck with him and it would be a huge boost to the team if he played well. so not much we can do besides cross our fingers and hope

Would love to see Orr and Boogy drop 'em, I'd imagine Orr'd love to rebound from being KO'd the other night.

I expect this game to be a lot like the Islander one, with a different result of course.

They're not doing player introductions? That's one of the things I look forward to at the start of the season. I hope they do. Anyways with that said, is someone going to be taping the introduction and posting it up. I can't watch it up here in MA. I can only get the start of the game on a website.

Great to have drury back. LETS GO RANGERS
