****ing armstrong
To me it looked like a normal hit when a guy is facing the boards like Gaborik was. It's not like Armstrong took a run while Gaborik was facing the boards and then drove his head into the glass. They both had momentum going to the boards and Armstrong finished his check.

Anyway losing Gaborik is bad... and losing Drury for that long is bad as well. We lose our best penalty killer and a decent all around forward.

This is probably somewhat similar to torts' reaction to the news. (not sure if this will work)

White staying is actually a good thing now. Atleast the guy has had some success in the league. Give him a shot now

No I just think it's crazy to pay a thug 1.6mil when the other teams aren't even affraid of running your best player. Like the goal of the enforcer is to protect the best players, yet there is zero proof that this actually happens. There are plenty of examples of Wild players being injured when Boogaard was with them.

Just don't see the value in that. Gaborik being hurt sucks I'm his biggest fan and he's on my fantasy team it's a double whammo.

This is interesting. Reggi Dunlops infamous quote comes to mind - "I am personally placing a hundred-dollar bounty on the head of Tim McCracken. He's the head coach and chief punk on that Syracuse team. "

Collect the hundred bucks on the 21st Mr Boogeyman. And do it brutally

that...would be...awesomeeeeee
if he knew doc brown it would be worth the signing just so we could go back to before sather was signed and have dolan struck by lightning...problem solved.

as for the issue at hand it wouldnt help the injury but if thats the case why is he here than? wasnt his purpose to keep teams from taking linerties with our top players? so far gabby has been hurt and hank run twice in 3 games...so whats the point?

2-3 weeks for Gaborik is not bad. I was fearing worse than that.

Drury will be missed too.

Good start to the season. Can't wait to see how this goes. I have a feeling Frolov will not do much of anything for 2-3 weeks.

I see you guys win our next meeting despite missing Gabby and Drury, but Leafs win the fights. We haven't done much of both simultaneously this season.

I say Boogaard beats Orr and Hank steals another point for us, but you guys win.

Hey guys I was just over here checking on the status of Gaborik since I saw he injured his shoulder on tsn...When I read seperated shoulder followed by out 2-3 weeks I laughed. I seperated my shoulder in a similar fashion and situation in a game and lets just say I couldnt lift my left shoulder to TOUCH my right shoulder for 2-3 weeks. I understand it all depends on the severity of the seperation and my ligament was streched, but 2-3 weeks seems unrealistic especially with some like gaborik who relies on his shoulder strength to produce the best wrist shot in the game. Now I didnt have Dr James Andrews treating me, but im just saying... Hope he heals quick either way and good luck. Go B's!

this is pretty bad news but our offense has done ok the first three games. the real problem right now is our defense

so how much cap space does this save? I have no clue how that works. Pro rated I guess.

Prospal has to be off now that he is having surgery. Drury's huge amount is off. But with Gaborik you have to miss 10 games to be on Long Term Injury no?

I imagine with Avery likely suspended they bring in MZA now. May as well give him a shot. Good god Todd White is going to play important minutes now. Poor Kennedy. They cant risk bringing him back up through re-entry

add a Sean Avery suspension to the list boys. If Cammalleri got a game for his slash , avery will get at least 5.

I'd venture to guess that Gaborik is out for a month, maybe more.

HEY GUYS HEY GUYS!!!! I got this random call from a NY number I don't recognize. It was Sather he apparently no longer simply signs random players he now signs random people too. He wants to sign me to see if I can be any better than what they have now!!! OMG IM SO EXCITED!!!! He offered what he called the standard minimum of 500k but then I reminded him the standard minimum is actually 7 million so he said "Oh ok I forgot. Usually Drury or redden reminds me. K so we'll fax a contract to you I got to go Mess is trying to bust down the door and hang up the phone."

The only way Tortorella could have used him more effectively in that situation is if he sits Gaborik in favor Boogaard. Then, in the worst case scenario, Boogaard gets a separated shoulder and no one would be panicking.
I knew it was bound to happen. That's what Gaborik does. Scores goals and gets injured.

The other problem is that no one wants to drop the gloves with Boogaard. And like in Avery's situation, if Boogaard drops em, (you know the other guy is not) the Rangers go down a man. FOR TRYING TO PROTECT A TEAMMATE (the league is killing this sport)!!!
Last season, it looked like Orr couldn't wait to fight Brashear. I know he takes on all comers but (imo) he looked afraid when he was standing next to Boogaard (right before Prust dropped the gloves).
Luckily Gaborik didn't get a "Matt Cooke like" cheap shot to the head and he'll be back in a few weeks. And it's not exactly like Gabby's on a tear right now. I'm assuming they'll bring up Kennedy or Mats.

The league (imo) has to do away with the instigator penalty. Especially in Avery's situation. He dropped the gloves and Armstrong did not. So what?? It's not like Avery started swinging anyway. But guy's like Boogaard and Orr are getting paid to "police" their respective team's. The league will not let them do it. At the same time (Pominville being the latest victim), the ruling makes the league's star players more vulnerable to more serious injuries.

I thought that's who Bettman, the NHL, and the NHLPA wanted to protect? Apparently more harm than good is coming out of it.
