I think their talking about when he plays ES (not SH where I think he has been solid), and if so I kinda agree. Its not that he looks bad, but he seems to be forcing himself to much. From the past few years, everyone knows when Richards tries to do everything himself (ie go through the neutral zone, try dangling around people and losing it at their blue line.)

He seems to go through this every season where he then stops doing it and uses his teammates alot more. And I know who his linemates are but its still true. He will be fine, but I kinda do agree that he doesnt seem like the usual Mike Richards

On the PK yes.

But as sa cyred said on ES he has been pretty below average. He is forcing himself and doing things that are outside of his game.. He is trying to be flashy. The work ethic is there but he needs to simplify his game and watch the turnovers. When Richie does the little simple things along with his great work ethic he is a beast.

He's +/- 0 while playing with Carcillo and someone who is playing out of his natural position and he's excelled on the PK. Again, he's been fine, even defensively.

Even besides all of that, it's only a few games into the season.

Defensively he has been outstanding.. Offensively he was average the last game. Its not a cause of concern just an observation. He was turning over the puck a lot in the offensive zone against TB.

Who is ogre? I guess you mean Malkin? It would be a bad idea for somebody to just start pounding on him and put the pk out there for half the game. I do think it would be a good idea to run at him legally as much as possible - because if you can catch him a couple times he does tend to disappear. Trick is catching him of course - he's very big and is one of the best players in the whole league. Guys on here are talking like "all you have to do is check the crap out of him and then beat him up" - like he's some 170 lb. beer leaguer.

Just slewfoot him like Malkin always seems to do to other players. Should work.

I guess with all their injuries the Pens have to dress Goddard, Rupp and Engelland. Two heavyweights and a guy that just punched Orr's face in the other night. Best way to play them is to keep them on the ice. They all flat out suck at hockey anyway. Let Shelley fight them all since he sucks too.

...Okay? Like I said before, he's tied for the team lead in assists, points, and PP points while playing with the worst linemates out of the top nine.

Carter one of the worst players in the top nine? You're right i guess. He's played with JVR in the second period or later in games more. Carcillo only plays on that line usually in the first period.

The powerplay has been non-existent. So what are you talking about?

Yeah, I have a feeling that the best fight tonight won't include Klitschko.

I just noticed something, their top 2 scorers are d-men. Are they becoming the Islanders as with Streit the last couple of years?

Playing out of position, yes, for now he is. Then there's also Carcillo. The only player in the top nine that doesn't have the skill to play in it.

Lines get mixed up during the course of a game, that's just how it goes. However, Carcillo-Richards-Carter has been a set line since the season started.

Quote:

Never said the powerplay hasn't been non-existent. However, we do have one PP goal total and Richards got a point on that goal, therefore he's tied for the team lead in PP points.
