This should prove to be a solid move by Joey GM. It's great for everyone involved. He wasn't going to play in Dallas, so might as well let him get better by playing a ton of minutes down in Austin. The ball is completely in his court now as to whether or not he wants to improve. Lack of opportunity will no longer be an excuse.
I think this quote from crawdaddy is rather telling:
"It's about the journey and getting street smart in the ways of hockey," said Crawford. "That's going through the tough developmental periods of major junior hockey or a tough college weekend or the American League with three in three nights. You've just got to survive and find a way to forge through. That's the one part of the game that's missing from Fabian's repertoire. We all know he has skill, great puck protection skills and pretty good creativity. There's a knock on him and that is on that combative, dig in and fight through turmoil that is a big part of a lot of games. Guys that become good in the National Hockey League become good at it. They learn how to accept it and to deal with it."
If Bruunstrom is half the player Crombeen is I hope we claim him too. Crombeen has really worked out well.
Maybe we can trade you guys Winchester for Bruunstrom. I'm not one to make trade proposals usually. I'm not an NHL gm so no point. I'd love to see a player with talent taking Winchester's spot though. I'm not saying Winchester has no talent. Just that I think it's more AHL level.
