EDm/Buf Proposal

Well given The glut of goalies Buff has i could see them making a deal and Edm has a load of D-men and Left wingers.

I propose this

Brewer for Miller and stafford.

The oil get a number one goalie and the Sabres get a top flight d-man.

The only probleme is after this trade the Oilers have 3 capable number one goalies.

How about Brewer and Isbister for Miller, Stafford and Hunter.

I think this is very fair deal for Buffalo, I just don't think the Sabres will trade Miller.

Buffalo would still have good young talent in goal, and they'd add a high level dman who could be the #2 (behind Kalinin) as the team matures.

This is a deal that woudl make a lot of sense for both sides, IMO.

I'm not sure the Oilers need ANOTHER goalie, with Jussi and Conklin already going to be around for the next few years.... plus Dubnyk and Deslauriers in the system. The Oilers might be interested in Stafford, however.

Value-wise I think it's fair, but Edmonton would have to be absolutely sold on Lynch and Woywitka to pull the trigger on this deal.

Plus, I don't think Brewer would be available at this point. He's Edmonton's #1 defenseman, and they need him there IMO.

I'd do this in a heartbeat. But isn't that a bit much for Buffalo to give up? Okay, they have three goalies in Noronen, Biron and Miller, but Stafford is a great prospect for them. The value's right... I just don't know if Buffalo would do it given the lack of prospects like Stafford.

Buffalo would not make this deal.

I do not see either of Drew Stafford or Ryan Miller being moved from Buffalo, and you can include Tomas Vanek in that category.

If Buffalo is looking to get a defenseman, they'll likely try to package Biron and Dumont before thinking of touching Stafford or Miller.

Hell I'd even throw in Conks and take out Isbister. Conklin, and Brewer for Miller, Stafford and Hunter. Better? I want Hunter damn it!

Ok I got exited there. Isbister is back in.

Because both Buffalo and Edmonton are treding water...just outside the top 16...they don't need to waste time dealing prospects...neither team is interested in shuffling young players around...they both need vets. who can help ignite the young talent they already have.

Trust me, after the Oates debacle the last thing we need is more vets. We need a young core to be dumb enough to believe they can win it all.

As long as nobody takes Noronen.

I want Vancouver to trade Sopel for Noronen or something.

We need a goalie.

I don't agree. Buffalo is loaded with good young players. They can stand pat, and still get better.

Maybe you could get Biron for Sopel, but not Noronen.

This is a deal that would make sense for both teams, except

a} I think the sabres could probably get more for Miller if we found the right person
b} Brewer is over rated {IMO}

Stafford is a guy who can easily end up in Edmonton too. Man how i wish we had taken the deal to flip picks in the last draft, take the Oil's 2nd, and take Meszaros with the 1st. We have a glut of young prospects like Stafford already. To whoever said that the Sabres would trade JP before him... what drugs are you taking! That Hecht-Briere-Dumont line should be an almost untouchable for us.

Sopel for Biron would be another good deal, but i really really hate Sopel. I see him as a liability. I would rather pay more for a real quality top 4 d-man, or take a chance in the UFAs. Again, thats just my opinion tho. Biron to the Canucks makes sense.

Do you mean Dylan? If so, why?

I'm not sure I think this deal would make any sense for the Oilers. Why Miller? Why a goalie at all, unless he's a clear number one?

I can't imagine the Sabres trading Miller. Not a chance.

I can imagine seeing Marty Guitar Kid Biron being waived outright.

If Dubnyk had played worse this season, and Lynch and Woywitka had played better, I would do this deal in an instant from an Oiler standpoint.

As it stands currently, Brewer seems to be getting more and more important to this team. The emergence of one of Dubnyk and JDD will hopefully eliminate the need to trade for a #1 goaltender. Those two factors add up to a very reluctant no from me.

Just a question to Oiler fans:

Why does it seem Oiler fans are so quick to want to move Brewer? I see his name in trade offers all the time (by oiler fans) and I don't get it.

I can't see Stafford going anywhere. Buffalo'd love to get Brewer, but it wouldn't be at the expense of both Miller and Stafford.

honestly, I think its because he is one of the few players on our team with a high trade value. Sure players like Ryan Smyth would also carry a lot of value, but fans are more willing to part with Brewer than Smyth.

I personally do not agree with it though. Brewer is the most important d-man on the oilers blue line, and without him they would be in big trouble........if only we still had janne....

"Biron to the Canucks" makes sense for Buffalo but it doesn't make sense to the Canucks.

I'd do it especially if the Sabres don't resign Zhitnik
