That lineup is rough, but missing Gaborik really shows how weak we are at RW. MZA should obviously be called up to add a playmaker, but Torts insists on not calling anyone up and having a completely inept 4th line.

Christensen and White are two players who are not fast by any means, add Boogard to that mix and you have a 4th line that is going to get abused.

Call up MZA
Dubinsky-Anisimov-Callahan
Frolov-Christensen-MZA
Avery-Stepan-Fedotenko
Boogard-Boyle-Prust

this isn't rocket science

It is amazing what a difference a lineup can look like when they are missing 3 of their top 9 players...

I do feel Christensen and White are not 4th line players and talented enough where Torts has to figure out a way in this lineup now so there can contribute.

Maybe a line of Avery EC and White would look good..

D-pairs stay same: Staal-Rozsival, DZ-Girardi, Gilroy-Eminger.

Mike Sauer the healthy scratch tomorrow vs. Avalanche. No call-ups from Hartford for NYR.

Expected but Henrik Lundqvist will start vs. Avalanche. John Tortorella: "Marty (Biron) will get some time shortly."

Erik Christensen still considers himself day to day but says his sore right groin was feeling much better. "Night and day" from 2 days ago.

Today's practice and meetings focused on defensive coverage.

This is much more the problem than the forwards, IMO. This D needs to change immediately.

Staal - Girardi
Rozy - MDZ
Sauer - McD/Tank

It blows my mind that Torts can't see the need for a new bottom pair. Eminger is awful and brings nothing to the ice. I knew NYR was going to lose that game the second I saw him on the ice on the PK in OT. Gilroy comes and goes and can be alright when/if he has a responsible partner but after his display last game he doesn't deserve to play the next one either. You can work on coverage all day long, but its not going to mean **** if you have players out there who can't play it.

umm no.....dubi-ani-cally has been our best line...why would you mess that up

there going to be the first line when all is said and done anyway

btw for all you people complaining......goals have actually not been the problem this year...i realize gaborik being hurt will not help....but the real problem is the defense which unfortunately is the staying the same

The D-pairings are an embarrassment. Playing White over MZA is ridiculous as well.

I could do without the "umm no..." sarcastic nonsense. If you disagree with something I've said, disagree like a man, not like a child.

Sure, that's been the best line, but I wouldn't say the line has been so good or that the chemistry is so entrenched that the line is completely untouchable. And it's not like those players have never had success without each other. When you lose 2-3 key players, things are inevitably going to change. I happen to think the lines I suggested would work best. Simple as that.

All things considered, I like Boyle being moved up to the third line and Stepan being moved up to the first with someone he has chemistry with. The real number one line is our second line, but I am looking forward to seeing if Stepan can get Frolov going- he's been playing a very good game...just not a scoring one .

On the other hand, and I can't stress it enough, I am absolutely appalled the d-pairings are staying the same.

so true...sadly.

time for our guys to step up. the isles beat us without their 3 best players...no reason we can't play for 60 minutes. a little heart can go a long way.

IMO if you can get production out of Frolov-Stepan-Fedotenko it's not the worst lineup for a short period of time. Dubinsky-Ani-Callahan need to keep playing well though. Avery-Boyle-Prust will be a good line. That 4th line promises to be ugly.
