Hiller has been average so far this season. Over half the goals he has given up this year have been pathetic. That first goal was just absolutely abysmal. I dont care if there is a deflection. He is a professional goaltender, he is supposed to stop those shots. He has looked terrible so far this season. Since when does a "good goalie" give up 4 goals a game???

Replay currently airing, good grief, the 1st goal was horrible.
Wake up, get a haircut, paint your mask and clean your room!

How the hell were they able to **** this up. Ok quite lucky last 2 goals by the Thrashers but still...oh my that hurts

Lydman looked good and will make Lubo's game easier when we go forward.

Perry and Getzlaf both still in the shoot outs!? I would like to see some stats about their success % from couple of years...it's not good I tell ya...

Not sure if it was mentioned here, but Sbisa did say in the post game interview that his foot is still bothering him

Well that's a **** way to lose.

We had this game in the bag, but took some really ****ing stupid penalties.

Also on the Thrashers 3rd goal, was it really all Hillers fault? I thought it was pretty lucky how it deflected off the netting off Hillers pad into the path of Stewart I think it was. But maybe that's just me :p

That's a point we shouldn't be dropping, but at least Lydman looked pretty solid. Though that match showed how vunerable we are against teams with a lot of speed.

I actually thought we played a good game and got unlucky. Hiller wasn't his sharpest but he wasn't as terrible as people thought.

Hopefully this will be a good lesson about taking stupid penalties. I think until we get another true reliable top tier defensive defenseman it will continue to struggle.

I did like what I saw out of the Chipchura line and Getzlaf line tonight. Lydman, Vis will be a great pear moving forward.

I'm worried the Koivu line may just be too small. Blake isn't the problem, he works his ass off every shift, but none of them are strong down low defensively.

The 4th line also looks unimpressive to me.

I think Lilja should get the nod over brookbank. He's been the most average from my POV so far. Fowler probably had his worst game.

Next game I'd like to see

Bodie Getzlaf Ryan
Ryan Koivu Selanne
Belesky Chipchura Sexton
Blake Marchant Parros/Carter

Vis Lydman
Mara Fowler
Mikkelson Lilja

To be fair, Fowler misread the play. It looked like he expected the puck to be dumped in. There was also no support from the forwards. All that extra space allowed Stewart to skate in and blast one.

I'm not excusing Hiller, because I thought that was a very stoppable shot. It was a slapshot from far out, and Hiller just looked deep in his crease. Like everyone else on the ice, I think he was unprepared. I just don't think he was the only one to make a mistake on the goal. His mistake just might have been the most obvious, and probably the one that hurt the most.

Ryan's SO percentage is atrocious. Just awful.

Koivu, on the other hand, has a very impressive SO percentage.

Apparently Fowler had one 2+ min shift in this game, that won't sit well with Carlyle unless your name is Pronger or Niedermayer.

I think I remember seeing a shift where he was out there for a long while, but I also don't remember if he had a lot of opportunities to get off the ice. I think he was forced to chase after the puck in the neutral zone/our zone and I think that may have kept him out longer than he should have. Still that's way too long.

Also was Fowler like triple shifted at the start of the game? I swear I saw him with rotating partners for like 3 plays in a row.

This is totally irrelevant but in Michigan, the cities Perry and Fowlerville are 18 miles apart. Just an interesting fact about nothing.

I was watching that game with my brother, and I said "Wouldn't it be funny if Stewart scores?" next thing I know he blasts a slap shot past Neimi.
