Sauer needs to be in this lineup it is ridiculous that he is being sat in favor of Steve Eminger

every day that torts continues to coach this team (poorly) reminds me of how much i want him gone. his continued reliance on eminger is simply misguided and shows poor judgement.

um, news flash coach clown, sauer has played well and his coverage in the first 2 games was solid.

sitting the defensively sound mike sauer for eminger makes no sense. as does playing gilroy, our worst defensive defender,

then again, torts is still the coach

and why not bring up mza ?

gonna be a long season.

we are already in enough trouble, we need to keep things as simple as possible for now.

I'd wager that Gilroy and Eminger switch sides... an indication that the staff is still evaluating the d roster. I see Sauer sitting at this point as a vote of confidence actually. He is a known quantity. The other two are playing not just for regular NHL minutes but for a roster spot. Eminger played 2 games out of position, Gilroy 1.

This is tougher than everyone is making it out to be. We can go with Gilroy and Sauer, execute Eminger after the 2nd period. But that means we have 1 rookie and 1 guy that played most of 1 season in the NHL after converting to defense 4 years prior. That's your 3rd pair. Is it any wonder they are praying that Eminger will show signs of life on at least 1 side? 4 games I am willing to grant the team to experiment. Or they can completely dismantle the pairings and put 1 vet with 1 guy with less than 82 games experience. You're lynching Tortorella for not pairing Girardi and Staal together (why you want Roszival backing up MDZ is beyond me) so I can't imagine the masses want that either.

Prediction: EC will refuse to play tomorrow to avoid long term injury, call up MZA, fans blast MZA for looking slow and tired.

Personally if I was the coach/gm this is how I would have started the season

Staal-Roszival
Valentenko-Girardi
MDZ-Sauer

Gilroy 7 man

But McDonagh and Valentenko are pretty close to me

Dubinsky+Callahan is better than Frolov+Fedetenko. Therefore Anisimov is centering the defacto 1st line. People want Anisimov centering the first line? Well he started doing that in the 2nd period when Drury and Gaborik left the game. There is enough uphevel this week, keeping some semblence of continuity is important.

Those lines look terrible. Call up the hobbit and Kennedy, these lines will produce 0 goals.

No, Garroich is not reliable. He only said the Rangers are trying to move Gilroy, nothing immenent.

Someone would actually have to want Gilroy. I don't see many teams wanting him.

The Avery - Boyle - Prust line should be fun to watch.

That 4th line is terrible.

The 2nd line of Dubinsky - Anisimov - Callahan has been pretty solid for most of this young season.

What scares me the most is the first line of Frolov - Stepan - Fedetenko. Yeah, that's not a first line in the NHL. Hopefully they will surprise.

Think it has more to do with Gaborik getting hurt - Christensen is barely an NHL player without him.

Christensen does nothing without Gaborik. No Gaborik, no Christensen on the 1st line.

He's waiver wire garbage.

This looks like a lineup for a first preseason game. They need to call up 85 while they are at it.

This is a terrible, terrible lineup. Any NHL team that loses to this lineup should be shot.

Why don't we try:
Frolov-Anisimov-Callahan as the top line?

I don't think the order matters at this point. Not one combo you can make with those players is a legitimate first line.

Mike Sauer the healthy scratch tomorrow vs. Avalanche. No call-ups from Hartford for NYR.

Expected but Henrik Lundqvist will start vs. Avalanche. John Tortorella: "Marty (Biron) will get some time shortly."

Erik Christensen still considers himself day to day but says his sore right groin was feeling much better. "Night and day" from 2 days ago.

Today's practice and meetings focused on defensive coverage.

_______

Well thank god for that

I was getting worried that he would split up our 3rd pairing, i mean why in the **** would we want a steady defensive player like Sauer playing when we could having Eminger and Gilroy stinking it up

Just noticed this was posted to

Quote:
In a nutshell, that’s the story from today’s Rangers practice, a good portion of which was spent on defensive zone coverage - and that includes the classroom work.

“The No. 1 priority of practice as well as after the game (Friday’s 4-3 overtime loss to the Maple Leafs) is coverage,” coach John Tortorella said. “We don’t have to give up our defense to create more offense. Our approaching isn’t raising holy hell and taking chances all over the place.

You’re not going to win in this league unless you’re solid defensively…It was a lack of stopping (Friday). It wasn’t a high-man problem. It was running around our end zone, spinning and not stopping.”

Still, the defensive pairs will stay the same for tomorrow’s game against the Avalanche.
And yet you still go with a Eminger-Gilroy pairing?

For **** sake Torts you have lost the plot
