Hope the Oilers pick up Mikkelson, I doubt that it will happen.

I hope Van picks up Kendal for bottom 6 depth. He's actually a friend of mine from highschool

What happened with him? I figured he was a lock to make the team this year, seems like bad asset management by Florida again. Am I wrong?

I remember Mikkelson playing really well in that U-18 during the lockout year that TSN showed. I am really surprised he has not become a better NHLer.

One of many prospects selected too high due to "intangibles." Andrew Ladd, Kyle Chipchura, etc. Sometimes you need a little talent in addition to a solid work ethic and leadership qualities.

Mikkelson at this point is an in-betweener. He's had one full year of the minors, followed by two seasons split between the AHL and the NHL.

I would take this demotion (my thinking is that he's on waivers in an attempt to get him to the minors) as a signal that Fowler is with the Ducks to stay.

Mikkelson's on a one year contract right now for just under 700k. I'm not convinced he's a full-time NHLer at this point. The tools are there: skates well, decent at moving the puck, good size frame (but doesn't really use it), but he, to date, hasn't really taken that next step to be a regular two-way guy at the NHL level. Maybe it's a confidence thing.

Mikkelson has really outplayed Brookbank. But Brookbank has a one-way contract and Mikkelson has a two-way contract.

This is interesting.

With Mikkelson being the Ducks 7th d-man and Sutton not due back from IR for at least 5 weeks. I can't imagine the Ducks are not going to have a 7th d-man on the roster. I don't see this move being made just to bring Sbisa back up....so start the trade speculation! Souray anyone?

McArdle would fit great into how the Leafs are playing

Might as well take advantage of that waiver priority while it lasts

Leafs are perfectly fine on defense.

In fact, Gunnarson is a healthy scratch today.

Not to sound like the classic HF poster who wants to claim every available player but I hope the Lightning select Mikkelson and send down Vernace.
