I agree that Solid should move on. Pouring his heart out here is not productive. I feel bad for him, but it appears that she's got her eyes set on other things. My recommendation: "Find someone else."

I would say the more you push her on dating you the more you shoot yourself in the foot. She might really not want to date anyone, or she might really just not want to date you but pressuring her isn't the best way to find out. The point everyone here is trying to make is if she wanted to date you she would, it's not to say she might not one day be interested but right now she isn't. Everyone's been there at least once, and the best thing you can do is take a step back, collect yourself, and move on. It might work out, it might not, but the only thing that comes from all the waiting is more time wasted.
I actually didn't, but the fact that you put myself and Ryan Reynolds in the same sentence makes you an ass-hat.

As for the time waited, I know that from personal experience. I even know girls that said they liked me in high school whom I was close to but had no idea. So sometimes they're not doing a good job either showing the signs. The best way to go about it is show confidence, like Ryan Reynolds, and see if they are. If not, do what he said. Move on. It may not seem it, but the "plenty of fish in the sea" is true. And from personal experience, the right ones pop up when you least expect it.

People spend absurd amounts of time and money on weddings. Luckily enough, my true love refuses a marriage in church (she's rebelled against her deeply religiuos parents since her early teens and shows no signs of slowing down), so a civil union was enough with a small party afterwards.

A friend of mine gave me a call during the summer though and said that he'd be getting married some time in August, so I shouldn't be travelling too far away. They'd look at the weather forecast to make sure that it would be sunny so the date would be decided pretty late. There were about 70-80 people who showed up, four bands played (the groom works as a sound engineer).

A death metal band playing a song called Eternal Suffering at a wedding was great on so many levels.

And, if she is geeky like that, geekiness is probably a trait that she looks for in girlfriends/friends and obviously not something that she looks for in the d-bags that she dates... who probably wear backwards "Tap Out" baseball caps.
She actually loves both anime and Doctor Who. So yeah...

No she isn't into them either. But yeah, like I said, I'm keeping my thoughts to myself from now on instead of saying anything on here.

Usually when someone says emo, I say on the lines of cutting ones self. And even worse is emo music *shivers*.

Anyways, anyone watch MST3K? Or even have any of the episodes?

Hey I ask because I'm watching another episode. I actually started it last night, but was too tired to finish it .

I don't think it's the battery, because I got jumped and drove for a little then it died again on me, within 5 minutes. So it may be the alternator. While it was about to die my gauges were all freaking out and I heard two low pops under the hood. Checked my belt and that was fine.

Did literally everything just shut off? All power I mean while you were driving?

But yeah, if it did, it would be the alternator. Mainly because it happened to my Civic. So yeah, be prepared to spend a MINIMUM $100 for another one (if you lucky to get that low).

No, everything was just freaking out. Speedometer was going to 100 down to 20 back to 100. Rpms were freaking out, gas meter. Everything was freaking out. My power steering started to die when I was pulling into a parking lot. I believe the guy tested my alternator and said it was okay. Who knows.. So It's sitting in the shop now.

My personal statement for grad school was written after being up for approx 36 hours, and I was mildly intoxicated.

What are the instructions?

According to people I know involved in the process, not very. Unless you come off as a lunatic or a moron.

If my app process is any indication, the prompt is: "Write a personal statement." or something similarly vague.

Depending on the school, it can go unnoticed or be as important as your GPA and LSAT scores. I just sort of rambled on mine, which miraculously worked.

Most of them are nothing. "Different individuals will find different topics", etc. No requested length either.

It's a good thing everything gets so much more specific once you're in
