good job today uncle marty. Cheer for sarge, without gonch we have no cup that is a fact of life. Sarge will always have a place in my heart as one of my fav pens, hope he retires as being thought of as a pen, not a sen, bruin, or cap. Whatever the case i still think he has a great night tonight and hes gonna always play well against us. it just usually happens.

i like the pens with a 4-3 win in OT.

Do I understand that it is my favorite butch-lesbian-martian-hybrid's birthday today?

Happy birthday and fine work on the GTD, sir! Now go have a few beers and enjoy the night.

LOL

Very Nice GDT! You guys make my old stuff look amateurish.

I'm expecting a GBT! Geno Breakout Tonight

It is pure insanity that the Comrie/Tangradi/Malkin line has seen so few minutes after what they did in the pre-season.

Sarge will always be a Penguin in my eyes. While he may have played for various other teams before playing for us, I truly feel we got him in his prime, both on the ice and off. There's no denying it....Sarge played a very important role in molding us into the eventual Cup winning champion squad of superstars we are today. His veteran presence, sense of leadership, and great mentoring skills proved to be quite beneficial to all of our guys...not just Geno.

Best of all though...he seemed just so damn nice.

I've been really liking Ben Lovejoy's play and after watching his interview on FSN, it seems that he's really excited to be at the NHL level. I really like this kid and will definitely be rooting for him.

Does anyone think ironing during the game will negatively the Pens chances tonight? I have a lot of **** to do, and I feel like ironing would be less distracting than "studying" or filling out student visa applications for Hong Kong.

Question: Why did the Caps fans "hoot" at Gonchar? What's the significance?

My understanding is that they were saying "whoops" because he was really prone to turnovers/boneheaded plays in his time there. I think it started with a previous defenseman, and then he sort of took the mantle after.

And according to the Ottawa feed, Johnson is getting the nod tonight.

I could be wrong but I believe it was an imitation of the goal horn, as in Gonchar let the other team score a lot of goals while he was out there. Pens fans did it to Hans Jonsson a bit too.

it actually started with larry murphy -- when he was still in washington. caps fans got sick of him turning over the puck whenever he got bumped so they started chanting "whoop(s)" at him. naturally it really escalated when he played for the pens and the teams played all the time.

gonchar was a natural transition -- former cap, similar issue in washington, same number.

Something to do with Larry Murphy.

I've seen it explained a few times before but I always forget the exact details. It's in the long line of great Capital's traditions. Like blowing it in the playoffs, hanging WNBA attendance champs banners from the rafters and celebrating hat tricks when the player in question hasn't actually scored one.

I hope FSN had those lines wrong. There is absolutely zero reasons why letestu should be centering the fourth line...zero

I cry myself to sleep at night thinking about our battered defensive lineup.

The only check he knew was the one he cashed every month
