Ironic coming from someone who may or may not be the leader of some strange OK Tollefsen cult and has also proclaimed himself to probably be a Rangers fan next season. The Rangers signed Boogard to 1.65 mil and are paying Brashear almost the same amount of money to not play at all.
Still, we all agree. It's not like we're all jumping with joy at this signing.
I had to bump this up....GOOD SIGNING??...1.1M for 3 years to play 3-6 mins a game and to challenge the likes of Boogaard who is facing his own extinction in New York!!!! My god it is so obvious we didn't need this guy. I found the below post over in the Rangers forum and couldn't help laughing....
Also love the Eminger comments. This is the same guy we traded our first rounder for who could have been Carlson or Markstrom....
I mean Holmgren and Sather are two dopes who got two goons like meatheads who compare whose shlong is bigger.....
Supposedly Clarke advised Holmgren on the Shelley signing saying he was needed against teams like the Rangers! The same Rangers team that probably won't make the playoffs! Why are you worried about those chumps and blowing 1M on a goon and then of course you duplicate it by signing Carcillo! We need scoring Paul! Thanks for wasting 2.2M in cap space for two cement heads....
Then of course we have two cripples in Leighton and Walker..another 3.2M squandered. Add in an overpaid Meszeros and people wonder why Holmgren gets heat.....
At least 5.4M could have been spent on at least two very productive players!

Was at the game tonight. This is the reason why I dont go any more, games are too boring.. The first peroid was ok, second and third, awful.
I really wonder why they just keep Eminger, he seriously ****ing sucks. Do you really expect them to win with Eminger, Gilroy and DZ (not saying he's bad he just need to work on defense) on D? They need to bring up Tank to replace Rosie on the PP, im tired of him having a wide open shot and passing it.
And another thing. WTF IS BOOGAARD OUT THERE!?! They have absoutly no offence, the avs dont have any big man for him to fight, and no one is going to fight him either way. Seriosuly wtf is torts thinking?!?!
I really hope Sather and Torts are gone sometime this season. I'm tired of the same bull **** every single year.
Thankfully it was a big enough spoonful that it couldn't make it through, but i'm pretty sure the inside of my head is going to be coated in PB for a while.

This is all Shelley's fault.
What are you doing eating spoonfuls of peanut butter?

At least he can manage to ******* somebody up from his cozy spot on the bench.
i was at the lightening game last week. it was the first time i had seen shelley play live. i wasn't expecting him to be another lappy, betts, or even powe, but i could never have dreamed of how bad he actually was. he looked like he was struggling just to move his feet and not fall over while skating. he also was clearly having trouble tracking the puck. i am impressed with his fighting, but fights don't win games. carcillo needs to be on that 4th line in his place for energy and agitation and respectable skating and hockey skills.
I forgot about this thread, so when I saw this title floating around, i nearly sent my peanut butter through my nose.
dear posters who claimed shelley would convert us all and he would be a favorite:
were you ****ing high?
quite sincerely,
me
Five games into the season. Give it time. What does it matter if the guys is only playing 5 minutes a game and he is kicking ass during those five minutes if the Flyers are in first place?

Him doing it for less every season of his career up until now.

Simple math proves you wrong.
You guys are missing the point. And this may not happen so I could very well be off here, but if they are in first place, I don't care if he is making $10 million and playing 20 seconds. It is too early to call it a bad signing. Yeah, it would be nice if it wasn't so much, and I am not saying it is a good signing. But it is not worth complaining about if the team is winning. In January if the team is struggling and Shelley is riding the pine or playing like crap, then yes it was a bad signing. But if they are in first place in January, who the **** cares how much money he is making? Winning is all that matters.

It's not too early.
It's a *ing terrible signing. Jody Shelley will have nothing much to do (for either good or bad) with us winning or losing hockey games this year. However, it's probably a net negative simply because his roster spot/salary could be used on a player that would have a positive impact.
Terrible, terrible, terrible signing.
If he was like 500-750K (for a year or two), no problem. But 1.1M is non-trivial... and 3 years is mind-numbingly stupid.
I remember being really excited when they signed him, thought it was 1.3 over 3 years, then it occurred to me that 430K was below the minimum salary, and I slowly became more and more angry.
he looked like he was struggling just to move his feet and not fall over while skating.
I wonder who would win a race....Shelley in his big hockey pants or the attacker from the Sugarhouse robbery in Jersey who tripped over his baggy pants??....
I think the title of this thread is a perfect example of an oxymoron! At least, so far. I think I can skate better than Shelley. He is so bad at everything. I hope we find some kind of spot for him and he can contribute something, otherwise it's a terrible signing.
