Defensive Point Output

Coming into the season, defensive point production was sure to be a large issue with the team.

Through 6 games and change? Not so much.

Goligoski- 3/4/7
Martin- 1/6/7
Letang- 0/5/5

What are realistic goals for this trio?

I don't know about goals, but I think all 3 could have 40 points

With the way they've been playing, the sky is the limit

Goligoski - 45-50 points
Martin - 35-40 points
Letang - 35-40 points

Providing they play it least 70 games.

Looks about right to me.

Perhaps one of those guys really has a surprising season in him (60+ for Gogo, 50+ for Martin?), but I doubt it.

A tad conservative...

Gogo - injured in late November. Comes back in late January. Slumps: 25-30 pts, -15
Martin - nagging injuries throughout 2nd half of season. In and out of lineup: 20-25 pts.
Letang - wildly inconsistent play leads to getting the Orpik (forced to play wing) treatment. Comes back motivated only to be lost in late season due to concussion: 20-25 pts. -10

Who thought it was going to be a large issue? Certainly not me.

Just hoping Goligoski's fast starts will eventually translate into something long-term.

Anyone remember him being on pace for 30+ goals last year at one point?

That certainly didn't last.

Would be nice to see something like 10-30-40 out of him.

He also had Gonchars spot while he was injured, and shined while there. Then his injury, and when he came back, Gonchar had already got back, and again he had to play out of position on the PP. The things they're trying with GOGO would never in this world would have been tried with Gonchar, leaving the team with the same inept PP.

Gonchar showed last night why I thought it was time to move on. Still a good offensive player, but his defense has taken some steps back. Martin won't score as much, but I can say with a fair amount of certitude that he won't be responsible for allowing goals to go in either.

That's what I was thinking. Maybe we don't have the one Gonchar guy, but I thought we had a nice collection of mobile, offensive-minded guys that would collectively put up solid numbers. I thought a lot of guys felt that way.

I those guys play 77-82 games, I'll say optimisticly that

Gogo gets 45 to 55 points
Martin gets 40 to 50 points and
Letang gets 38 to 45 points.

Goligoski has a real chance to be a elite scorer in this league as a defensman. Of course we thought the same thing last year then he got hurt and wasn't half as good when he came back.

Yeah, Gonch had a rough night last night. I know they can't be all that bad, but I believed then (and still do) that our defense with Martin and Michalek is way stronger than if we'd kept Gonchar and gone with someone like Jurcina as our 2nd UFA signing.

Спасибо для твоей времене, Сергей... Ну, мы расрешили пойти с дорогыми вариантами на нашой группе.
