To those who have Leafs TV, and have been able to watch the preseason games, how exactly has Hedin looked? Mainly over here on the NA size ice surface. I remember reading some rather negative reviews of his play when the Leafs were in Europe, but haven't come across any reviews with regards to his play over here. Anything is appreciated.

I have seen a few pre-season games and thought he is average IMO, not what i expected
I thought he played real well vs the sens on wed. He jumped in the play real well and made good outlet passes and was good on the pp. I only remember 1 or 2 mistakes that I saw he made that game
Only Kaberle would be classified as special on the Leafs.
None of the others are special.

using his big frame to create space and his skating ability to find open lanes to drive the net. He stands 6-3 and is a natural goal scorer with plenty of confidence.
He's a scout's dream in the way he prepares himself and plays an unselfish game, making smart decisions with the puck. With his bloodlines, he certainly understands what it will take to make it at the next level.

Ah Ulfie....
I think he shows some promise. Although after years in the SEL he needs some time to adjust to the North American game. I would rather see him make the team than Cola or Kondratiev based on his age and experience.
He would be my pick to stick after tomorrows game.
he seems like a real drifter out there. He pops up in places where you don't expect a D man to be which demonstrates his offensive ability, but it freaked me out a few times too. I dunno about this guy. He reminds me a lot of Pilar without the toughness. I'd stick him on the Rock for a couple months and see how he does. If he does not start to impress by February, I am afraid we are looking at a career European. He is 25 and should dominate the AHL after 1/2 a year in order for him to be a legitimate NHLer. Remeber, few teams need a smallish offensive guy in their bottom 2 - that's typically where they want sandpaper guys.

I agree. But perhaps if he spends some time in the AHL to become accustomed to the different size ice, rules, and size of players he could become a decent #4. Maybe a Rafalski type player in future. Otherwise career minor leaguer.
isn't this the same guy who people say demanded a one-way contract, will refuse assignment to st.john's, and is supposed to step right into the leafs top 4?
another mikael hakansson.
at some point people will realize that all the euro success in the world means nothing in the nhl.

To Hedin's defense. He knew he is a smallish guy - an offensive type, so if he was not going to play in the NHL he wanted to stay at home. He realized that this was the year for him and signed a 2-way to give it his best shot. I can't really argue with him actually. He may have progressed his own development because of this decision.
I think people just get excited about their own prospects. It is human nature - look at Penney and Quinn - Leeb, Holden, Druken etc. - all the GMs have this tendency.
