I wonder how bad we got fined behind the scenes for saying "**** this!" halfway through the Bruins' sweep and actually trying to win.

It was a much better story line to allow the flyers to win that series. Gave the nhl more publicty and more tv time with outlets that otherwise would not have said a word had boston won. Get with the program Chris.

I didn't go to school for drama. Man, I should've chosen a different major if I wanted to be a journalist covering the NHL.

The league will probably move us to Seattle soon to promote western expansion.

All because we just had to try and win.

lol. I love conspiracy theorists and paranoia.
Well, obviously there is similarity between the NHL/NFL/MLB/NBA/etc and the WWE, in that they are in the entertainment industry and making money off of disposable income.

Where the connection ceases is when you try to compare the actual event... and participants. Which its kind of amazing if people don't realize.

I mean, a far more direct comparison in terms of marketing, atmosphere, etc.

UFC Fighter == Wrestler

Um, no.

So he didn't train with the Flyers whatsoever after just getting here? In his case it may actually be coincidence and solely from the fight but what about the others?

Ok, how did he pass the physical with something like this. Wouldn't it void the trade with Gagne? LOOK INTO IT AND BRING GAGNE BACK!

Brad Marsh said something similar when he was replaced by Doug Sulliman.

Bobrovsky (0.90)
Boucher (0.93)

TOTAL: 56.03
CAP: 59.40
SPACE: 03.37 + the salary of the player replaced by bringing in a player.

Let's say you replace Nodl's salary in the lineup. Then we have 4.22m cap space to spend in theory.

That's also assuming that:

Leighton (1.55)
Laperriere (1.16)
Walker (1.70)
--------------
TOTAL: 4.41

Do not count against the cap hit for whatever reason be it LTIR or something else.
Bummer that all these dudes are battling injuries and Lappy is tough to replace on the PK but overall I have to say that what you posted is a nice silver lining. $4M can plug two holes due to injury or get one pretty damn good player for the stretch run.

Lappy is, easily, the only injured player that will be missed.

It's funny to think that a lot of Homer's offseason mistakes failed, literally, before the season even started.

Imagine Gagne still on this team and Carcillo put on the 4th line where he belongs. And then all of the other lines filled with quality offensive players.

Well, for example, Danny Briere had a sports hernia in Buffalo.

Imagine this:

Gagne-Richards-Giroux
Hartnell-Briere-Leino
JVR-Carter-Zherdev
Carcillo-Betts-Powe

Pornger-Carle
Timonen-Coburn
Bartulis-O'Donnell

I dont mind Meszaros, but its a waste of cap space

The poor trade and high price tag aside, Walker's a depth defenseman, anyway.

He just happened to be the first guy out for any length of time.

I'd like to see Crosby stickhandling up the ice towards an empty Flyers net, when, at the very moment the refs aren't looking, Laviolette reaches out with his silver cane and clotheslines him. Or maybe pushes a Coke machine onto the ice and smacks him silly.

Maybe the NHL could change the Flyers gear to all black, no nameplates, and the darkened visors just to make them look more bad-ass.

On Walker, I just can't stop laughing cynically about this. The article states that he had discomfort before the preseason fight, and just really aggravated it when he got his manhood handed to him. Sharp deal, Mr. Holmgren! How's that voluntary disclosure of potential injuries working out for you?

Maybe he needs some sort of standard form:

Philadelphia Flyers – Pre-Contract Health Declaration

I am currently:
[] Alive [] Dead [] In palliative care

I have all 4 of my limbs.
[] True [] False

Further to my current health situation, I may have trouble:
[] maintaining the tempo of an NHL game
[] contributing significantly through an entire 82-game schedule
[] walking

I have recently undergone the following diagnostic procedures (check all that apply):
[] X-ray
[] MRI
[] Exploratory surgery
[] Mirror under the nose

I have recently undergone the following therapeutic procedures (check all that apply):
[] Physiotherapy
[] Medications
[] Surgery
[] Last rites
[] Procto-craniectomy (front office only)
