I would love to get inside the head of Frolov right now. He signed a one year deal thinking he would play on a line with Gaborik, get tons of power play time and get a lucrative multi-year contract in the off season. Now he shows up to practice and sees Eric Christensen and Brandon Prust as his line mates. Good times.
so much for signing that 1 year contract, having a big season and cashing in next season on a big fat 3 year deal.
At this point something needs to be changed
Dubi and Christensen had chemistry last year w gabs, put them together and anisimov looked good in preseason w frolov and reward Boyle for his good play. The 3rd line stays in tact and that 4th line is awful white needs to go and boogard serves little purpose right now.
There's no guarantee that the prospects in Hartford would play any better. And it could stunt their development in the process. MZA has played what, all of 5 games down in Hartford? Let him continue to play in Hartford and the Rangers will call him up when he's ready. Patience is needed here.
No, I agree, I've heard nothing about the guys down in hartford that makes me say get them up here.
My only arguement is we have a lineup full of guys that havent really done anything either.
My relentless thrashing of torts and his lineups is mainly because this team is not ready to win, but also not fully committed to the rebuild. If it was, than it wouldnt be wasting roster spots on some completely useless players.
What would be nice is if players like Frolov and Fedotenko and Christensen stepped up and produced something.
Dubinsky looked great last game until he took that shot off of him, and even after that he still looked good.
Cally is Cally.
Anisimov needs to step up too.
When the chips are down you need guys to step up and hold the fort.
Yep. I just see that only Frolov, Dubi and Anisimov needs to step up big and they need to be our catalysts.
Like the usual with Dubi is his consistency. Frolov, too, doesn't look bad, but he's not producing. Anisimov has to take a huge step (no disrespect to him) needs to grow up quick in producing as well in the next couple of games.
although i agree with you, it's mighty disappointing for the season to start and looking at one top six forward (frolov) in the lineup. Many wondered why we wanted Kovalchuk to be a ranger so bad???
This team is so thin on top six talent right now, it's not even funny.
This current lineup is going to have to play Gonzo for sixty min. every night just to compete until Gabs and Dru are back.
Because of what just came true! Gabby getting hurt. Who knows if there's gonna be any lingering effects to this whole shoulder thing. He may need surgery. Who knows... I don't know. Nobody knows. What happens if it's a problem for the whole year??? Yet, I'm all for the growing pains if not signing Kovalchuk opens up a spot for a kid ---- Like Fedetenko...
Tortorella said he wanted Anisimov and Stepan’s lines together because they’d been effective and didn’t want to “rob Peter to pay Paul” by coming up with all-new combinations.
I cannot believe Tortorella said that... . Has real Torts been kidnapped and replaced with a kind and thoughtful coach that looks like John, but has Renney sitting in?
I don't see the problem with this line-up.
Just swap 1st and 2nd line (Andrew could have got it wrong) and you will see Prust has replaced Gaborik with nothing else changed. Well, someone had to, right? Why not, Gabo is irreplaceable anyway. Kennedy could be better, but he is trapped in HFD.
I think whatever lines we put up are going to be quite the same.
There will be a plethora of penalties in this game and all will be mixed up.
Callahan more or less promised vengence for the injury to Gaborik - a la Reggie Dunlop - in the post game interview after we lost in the home opener.
So I can see this game getting downright real ugly - & fast. I expect a brawl.
Eminger is probably in the lineup only therefore (Gilroy = very meak).
Boogeyman is going to have to earn his paycheck now. He has definitely not done it yet ( imagine he has earned $ 78.048 for a sparse 14 minutes of icetime so far - no penalties - nothing. That is like $334.491 per hour!!! in salary). For the icetime he presently receives - he makes a whopping $10.000.000 (compared to someone "elite" playing 20 minutes per night) per year. Now that is a problem... Anyone with half a brain can realize that...
Boogeyman, Prust, Sauer, Cally, Boyle, Dubinsky, Eminger and Avery are all going to have to show their nastiest sides to neutralize Burkes goonies.
This game cannot arrive soon enough. Me & Dagoon will like this one.
Goon it up guys... Go down swinging if things go bad on the scoreboard. This may be a way of unifying the team and actually resulting in a better unit prepared to walk on fire for each others in the future. That kind of attitude could go a long way leading to much better scoreboard results. Seen it happen many times before. And no - I am not joking...
Syracuse Beware - The Chiefs are coming.
These lines aren't all that bad considering the players that are available.
It's just re-arranging deck chairs on the Titanic anyway....
That was a good one.
And like you said, there's really not much more you can do with the players Torts has available. This team can compete every game. Special teams lost the game against the Avs. Rozsival running around completely lost on the PK and Eminger out of position leaving Stewart in front of the net unmarked. That kind of stuff can not happen. Call up Valentenko. He wouldn't of let that happen.
