Atlanta has literally no reason to make this move.

There just isn't any point for the Habs to downgrading Hamrlik to Sopel at this point in the season. Bergfors doesn't seem like any more of a solution to our top-6 quest than Pouliot has been. Although who knows, he seems to be a wildcard at this point.

The whole premise of trading Hamrlik had previously been based on his cap hit, but the Habs have already made their cap moves, and so that issue is behind us. I don't think there's any point in revisiting it now, as his value to the Habs' team on the ice will always exceed the negative implications of his cap (and salary) hit to any other team in a trade valuation.

For me, Hamrlik > Sopel (not including salaries, which don't matter right now), and Maxwell+2nd > Bergfors (ever so slightly, although with acknowledged potential for Bergfors to respond better in a different system, per whatever was clicking for him last year vs. potential for Maxwell + 2nd to bust).

Not enough reasons for the Habs to make the trade, even if you changed the ">" above to "=".

Well players in the doghouse.

Would Atlanta be interested in a move of:

O'Byrne+ a pick or another prospect

for

Bergfors

we do not need more defensemen

and as much as Bergfors ran over Ramsay's dog or something, he's one of our few top six forwards on the team and he's not moving for anything less than another top six forward
