That hit definitely warrants a suspension: late, blind-side, and to the head. It was no accident, either. I was hoping somebody would feed Cole his teeth, but it didn't happen.
Wouldn't have minded seeing Clifford give him the business, but I don't think he had many chances. If Westgarth had been in the line-up, I think he would've made his own chance to get out there with Cole and destroy him.
Emotions aside, it looked to me like Doughty was caught looking at his pass, turned blindly, and the two collided. I don't think Cole was trying to lay him out. The two were both just turning to go the other way and happened to do so towards each other.
But it's manageable. If Greene gets back in the next few days.
PK: Greene, Scuds and Mitchell
PP: JJ and Stoll
EV: Willie-JJ, Scuds-Muzzin, Greene-Wiske.
Short term, it is manageable.
If the injury is a month or longer, it's going to be a problem. Either way, Jack is going to have to step up...big time. He got beat again tonight. No bueno.

I disagree if you look at Cole he was looking at Doughty the entire time and turned and collided with Doughty. Either he can't skate for **** and made a mistake or he was going for the hit.

Agree. Saw it only once and you can tell right off the bat he went for Drew. How the heck did they hit each other if Cole was looking right at Doughty.

Seemed to me that he was looking at the puck, which was on the other side of Drew. When it got turned over, Cole tried to turn to rejoin the attack, and Doughty turned to get back defensively. I don't think he was anticipating Doughty turning that sharply into him. All he could really do was brace himself for the impact.
Colin better suspend him. If there is to be any consistency, that punk should get 3 games and a lighter wallet. I am a bit surprised Murray didn't send Clifford's fists out to pummel Cole or Simmonds didn't take matters into his own hands. Cole has had the reputation of being a jackass. For Kings' fans, consider this Exhibit A.
This one is tough. You can look at it both ways. From what i see, it looks like Cole is trying to join the rush on the turnover. Unfortunately Doughty turns Cole's way to get back on D.
Looking at it the other way Cole knows Doughty is there the whole time and is looking to lay him out. Honestly, i doubt it but who knows?
Personally I'm not entirely convinced either way, could have been accidental, could have been done with malice. I don't really care if he's suspended or not, I'm just bummed Doughty got injured.

Not accidental. When it's accidental you don't lead with your shoulder to the other guys head... See Westgarth and (I forget who it was that got injured on the play) to see what an accidental hit looks like. Looks to me like Cole took full advantage of catching Drew with his head done behind the play. Cole had Drew in his field of vision the entire time, it was no accident on Cole's part. You can even see Doughty even try to avoid the collison as soon as he sees Cole coming.

Hope he'll be ok.
NO, its NOT! Doughty makes the pass from inside the center ice line and gets hits a step over the blue line. Cole turns a high shoulder right into him after having a clear view of Doughty the whole way. Interference? Absolutely. Dirty? Just as certainly. Suspendable? You betcha. Discipline by Colin Campbell . . . ?
The fact that no one on the broadcast had a clue that the hit happened, how do we know the players on the bench saw what happened? It's hard to know if the players on the ice thought it was a dirty hit or an accident.

That's what blows my mind. Even if they didn't take a look until the 2nd intermission, how did we not see this during the broadcast? You'd think somebody in the truck would think, "I wonder if we can see where that star player got hurt?"
Besides that, I can't believe there wasn't a response. Hopefully Doughty is back very soon and I'm definitely on the play it safe side.
I'd also expect that the next person who puts a questionable hit on Doughty is made an example of. I don't care if it costs us a 5 minute major and we lose a game because of it.
The message needs to be sent - Don't **** with Drew Doughty! If you do, it's your ass!
